Nearly 100 Local Vendors Learn How to do Business in Support of Corporation’s New Facility

JACKSON, Miss., -- Nearly 100 representatives from Jackson, Miss.-area companies attended a recent Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] seminar to discuss how to do business with the Corporation. Lockheed Martin hosted this event at the MS e-Center at Jackson State University to establish working relationships with local vendors to support its new area Mission Support Center that will open in early September 2011.

During the event, Lockheed Martin representatives provided an overview of the new Mission Support Center and discussed the process to become a vendor with the Corporation. They also supplied the scope and timing of products and services that the Corporation will be procuring at this time for the new facility.

In April 2011, Lockheed Martin announced plans to open a new Mission Support Center in the South Pointe Business Park in Clinton, Miss. in September that will create up to 350 new jobs and provide diverse technology services for its federal customers. The opening of a new Mission Support Center in the Greater Jackson area establishes Lockheed Martin’s Gulf Coast Technology Hub and increases the Corporation’s presence in the state. Lockheed Martin has several locations throughout Mississippi and has held annual IT events at the Jackson Convention Center as part of its commitment to developing partnerships with the local community.

“We look forward to connecting and working with Jackson-area businesses to help Lockheed Martin establish a world-class operation that will deliver enhanced technology services and best value to customers,” said Darrell Graddy, Vice President, Lockheed Martin Enterprise Information Technology Solutions division.

Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin is a global security company that employs about 126,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services. The Corporation’s 2010 sales from continuing operations were $45.8 billion.
