Enquiries for Divorce Solicitors Spiked After Royal Wedding Weekend, Finds Online Marketing Firm I-COM

WEBWIRE

For the majority of the nation, last month’s Royal Wedding reaffirmed belief in romance, family values and true love. Or so we thought, because according to full-service online marketing firm I-COM, droves of Britons reacted to the event by taking to the web and seeking advice from divorce solicitors.

According to the Manchester-based company, searches related to the word ’divorce’ led to as much as 20% more traffic to several of its legal clients’ websites from Saturday 30th April (the day after the wedding) until the end of the following week.

What’s more, one of I-COM’s customer’s websites, which specifically works in divorce law, saw a huge 440% increase in conversion rates - that is, the proportion of people visiting the website and then deciding to contact the law firm for advice or representation - over the bank holiday weekend.

Operations Director at the company Mike Blackburn commented that everyone was surprised by what they had found.

"It’s long been known that divorce solicitors are in high demand after Christmas, but we didn’t necessarily expect enquiries to peak after a bank holiday, especially one that seemed to bring the nation so much joy.

“Unfortunately we guess that this fairytale wedding, instead of making couples feel better about their relationships, actually made them feel worse, and perhaps highlighted the lack of romance in their marriage to such an extent that they felt they had to take action.”

Dan Clark, marketing director at JMW Solicitors - one of I-COM’s many legal clients - added: “I have to admit, we did seem a bit busier over the Royal Wedding weekend! I do hope, though, that using the internet to look for advice on divorce law is not just a knee-jerk reaction of Britons comparing their own marriages to Will and Kate’s.”

Over the past couple of years I-COM has established itself as the agency of choice for businesses in the legal sector, using its SEO (search engine optimisation), social media marketing, PPC, web design and web development services to help them significantly improve their online presence.

The company currently has over 50 legal clients on its books, and it is not uncommon for them to experience increases in website traffic of 40% and goal conversions of 90% over a six-month period.
