Logistic Services Danubius Is Now DB Schenker Rail Romania

Berlin/Bucharest - Logistic Services Danubius SRL was renamed DB Schenker Rail Romania SRL today in Bucharest.

“It is now clear to the outside world that the company is part of our European DB Schenker Rail network,” announced Hans-Georg Werner, Member of the Management Board of DB Schenker Rail responsible for Region East. “Romania offers enormous potential for development in cross-border rail freight transport due to its growing export economy and due to the relocation of foreign companies’ production facilities to the region. Renaming the company shows our customers that they can expect the same quality and services from DB Schenker Rail Romania as they are accustomed to receiving from DB Schenker Rail in other European countries,” Werner added.

The objectives of DB Schenker Rail Romania include shifting more freight transport from the road to rail and offering customers continuous transports from a single source. The company invested in locomotives and wagons specifically for this purpose. “Continuing to internationalize our transports is an important component of our company strategy. We hope to achieve this through a strong presence on the domestic Romanian market, where we have been active through one of our own companies since 2000,”said Dr. Michael Hetzer, Chief Executive DB Schenker Rail Romania. Some 45 percent of transports are already international, and the company has border agreements with rail operators in neighboring countries. In addition to conducting and organizing freight transports for customers in the automotive, building materials, and other industries, DB Schenker Rail Romania also offers comprehensive industrial shunting and maintenance services.

DB Schenker Rail Romania SRL has head offices in Bucharest and Timisoara and is represented at other locations in Romania. It currently employs around 170 people and has its own electric and diesel shunting and traction locomotives and its own vehicle fleet.
