New Mushroom Based Topical Skin Lightening Products Offered by The Maas Clinic in San Francisco

The organically based enzyme that provides these results with elure was developed after almost 30 years of research. Lignin peroxidase, the natural enzyme contained in elure, is derived from a mushroom called Phanerochaete chrysosporium that grows on trees. First documented in 1984, this enzyme has been the subject of over 600 scientific publications.

However, until early in the previous decade, most scientists were investigating this enzyme for the purpose of lightening wood pulp for the more environmentally friendly production of paper. Not until early in the previous decade when a small Israeli biotech company named Rakuto Bio-technology made the observation that lignin and melanin had similar physical properties, did the development of lignin peroxidase as a unique skin-lightening ingredient begin.

Now, elure joins the list of other successful medical aesthetic products (Rogaine, Retin-A, BOTOX, Latisse) that began with a focus in one scientific community only to migrate into an entirely different use.
