NextWeb General Manager Graham Barnes delivers keynote address on future of industry at Broadband Wireless World conference

San Jose, Calif. (April 28, 2006) - Covad Communications Group, Inc. (AMEX: DVW), a leading national provider of integrated voice and data communications, is expanding its presence in Nevada with the opening of a new office in Las Vegas for its NextWeb Wireless division. NextWeb, which was recently named one of the “Top 10” Wireless Internet Service Providers by Broadband Wireless Exchange Magazine, offers high-speed services tailored to the more than 35,000 businesses in the Las Vegas metropolitan area.

“With the establishment of this office, we position ourselves for steady growth in a market outside our original footprint in California,” said Graham Barnes, Covad senior vice president and general manager of Covad’s NextWeb Wireless division, who gave a keynote address yesterday in Las Vegas at the Broadband Wireless World Conference. “Las Vegas is one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the country and there is increasing demand for efficient and reliable wireless broadband.”

Since launching wireless broadband in Las Vegas in May of 2005, NextWeb has provided service for several local businesses, including Ink Drops, NetEffect, and Xidix Technologies. NextWeb is also increasing its customer roster in Las Vegas, with a recent agreement with Nevada Ready Mix, a leading supplier of concrete for the city’s building boom.

“We chose NextWeb as our broadband provider because of the unique flexibility wireless offers our company,” said Ron Reed, Operations Manager at Nevada Ready Mix. “NextWeb provides us with faster speeds for a lower price, with the scalability we need for future growth.”

This new office is the first outside of California for Covad’s NextWeb wireless division and will help the company increase its visibility and build stronger relationships with local businesses in the community. The Las Vegas office is staffed with a regional sales manager and a team of local sales representatives.

Las Vegas’ growing population and flat topography, surrounded by mountainous terrain, make it an ideal location for Covad’s wireless broadband solution. Covad currently offers local businesses high-speed wireless broadband services of up to 100 megabits per second, with plans starting at $159 per month.
