Enabling Mobile Operators to Seamlessly Migrate their Voice and Messaging Services to Mobile Broadband Networks

GAITHERSBURG, MD - BroadSoft, Inc. (Nasdaq: BSFT), the leading global provider of IP-based communications services to the telecommunications industry, announced that its BroadWorks™ telephony application server (TAS) meets the requirements of the GSM Association’s (GSMA) IR.92 specifications for delivering Voice over LTE (VoLTE). The company believes this milestone will further advance BroadSoft’s position as the most widely utilized TAS in global IMS deployments.

The GSMA VoLTE initiative has defined the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) as the common way to deliver voice and messaging services over mobile broadband all-IP networks. BroadWorks integrates with all major IMS core providers and is currently deployed in more than 50 IMS networks globally.

In September 2010, the GSMA published the IREG Permanent Reference Document IR.92, which outlines the specifications for migrating 2G & 3G mobile voice, video and messaging services to 4G mobile broadband networks, such as LTE.

The IR.92 specifications BroadWorks supports include:

* 3GPP IMS application layer specifications
* Multi-media Telephony (MMTel) Supplementary Services
* A range of Codecs used in IMS and Mobile networks, like AMR
* Service Centralization and Continuity Application Server (SCC AS)
* Single Radio Voice Call Continuity (SRVCC)

“We expect to leverage our extensive experience with IMS networks and meeting the IR.92 specifications to offer mobile operators a seamless migration option for their voice and messaging services to their high-speed, all IP network,” said Scott Hoffpauir, chief technology officer, BroadSoft. “We believe mobile operators can further monetize their 4G broadband investments today by leveraging our MobileMxD services to offer consumer and business IP-based communication applications beyond voice and messaging.”
