ATLANTA;– The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has selected Accenture as a prime contractor on its 10-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity CDC Information Management Services (CIMS) contract that will be used to acquire a full range of IT services and solutions that support CDC’s global public health initiatives.

Under CIMS, Accenture will compete for work in two areas – information management services and IT infrastructure services – with ceiling values of $3 billion and $1 billion, respectively, over the 10-year period.

“We are excited for the opportunity to serve CDC, which studies international health trends and events, with our deep global health IT experience and capabilities,” said Dan London, managing director, North America Health & Public Service. “With this award, we intend to help CDC achieve its mission more effectively by leveraging the same high-quality information management, application, and infrastructure capabilities we provide to some of the world’s largest health organizations.”

To help CDC meet its goals of protecting the public health and promoting quality of life through the prevention and control of disease, injury and disability, Accenture will draw on its public and private sector health care experience. Among the capabilities and solutions that Accenture may deliver to CDC include health IT, disease management, predictive analytics, health information exchanges, network systems design, information security services, and infrastructure managed services.
