Made You Look: Newest Addition To The Lawrenceville Square Aims To Instill “A Love For All Things Natural”
October 28, 2010. A natural boutique and gallery that features custom jewelry, clothing, decor, original art: that is how the newest addition to the Lawrenceville Square, Made You Look, can be described. Store owner Dana Clark offers customers a unique assortment of hand-selected products to choose from. All of her products keep with her personal affinity for natural and recycled fabrics and materials.
With a background in photojournalism and a love for travel, Dana has always interpreted the world from multiple angles, which is evident in her jewelry, art, and product selection. “Before I start to work on a piece, I will put all my materials into a pile and just let the colors and textures speak to me,” said Dana, a technique that was inspired by a picture of Van Gogh’s jumbled yarn box that he would often reference for inspiration for colors. Every piece of jewelry sold at Made You Look is truly a unique creation.
Dana’s love for all-natural fabrics stems from her time spent with the Department of Defense in Hawaii, and as a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines. In Hawaii, Dana developed a true appreciation for hemp fabric and clothing. “The fabric is just so comfortable and durable, how can you not love it?” gushed Dana. A love of horses brought Dana and her husband to Atlanta, where they own a farm. It was after an unfortunate riding accident that Dana began making jewelry. “I was immobile from the waist down for a few months, so to keep from going crazy, I started making my jewelry,” said Dana.
On their way to a doctor’s appointment in Lawrenceville, Dana and her husband came across the empty store space on the Lawrenceville Square that is now home to Made You Look. “I looked in the window, and said to my husband, ‘I can totally see myself spending all of my days here, just working on my art and jewelry’”, said Dana, and now that dream is a reality.
Made You Look’s grand opening is Friday, October 29 at 4:00PM, complete with a ribbon cutting ceremony and champagne toast. The shop is located at 164 E. Crogan Street in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
