Poetry Publishers Announce Poetry Competition for Young Poets
UK-based poetry publishers United Press have announced that the search is on again to find young poets with the launch of their free poetry competition for young poets at http://www.unitedpress.co.uk. The poetry competition is exclusive to poets under the age of 16, and the winning entries will be published in their upcoming book, Young Poets of 2011.
Peter Quinn, United Press director and editor of the upcoming book said, We discovered many talented young poets with our book Poets of the Year 2010, and the search is now on again to find young poets to publish in our forthcoming book Young Poets of 2011. Anyone under the age of sixteen can submit a collection of up to ten of their poems. It is free to enter and the poets we choose around twenty will be featured in the book along with a profile of themselves, a photograph and a collection of their work. Each successful poet will also receive five copies of the book, and you can see examples of our previous work at http://www.unitedpress.co.uk/poetry.
With the objective of encouraging young people to get more involved in poetry the competition does present an excellent opportunity for aspiring young poets to see their work in publication, and anyone wishing to enter can send their collection of poetry along with a head and shoulders photograph plus a 100 word profile of themselves to:
Young Poets of 2011, United Press, Admail 3735, London, EC1B 1JB, by the closing date of 31st January 2011. The competition is only open to residents of the United Kingdom.
