Complete Solutions From Direct Laser Engraving And Proofing To Coatings And Inks

Valhalla, N.Y., September 14, 2010 – FUJIFILM North America Corporation today announced that its Graphic Systems Division will exhibit a full portfolio of solutions for the flexographic printing industry at LabelExpo Americas 2010 in Chicago, IL on September 14-16 at booth # 1241. At Fujiiflm’s booth, label printers will be introduced to the new FUJIFILM Direct Laser Engraving (DLE) Flexo CTP System exhibit, a comprehensive line-up of coatings, innovative UV flexo and rotary screen inks, a groundbreaking proofing solution and tried-and-true press room supplies.

“This year, we will exhibit the new FUJIFILM DLE Flexo CTP System, which underscores Fujifilm’s commitment to the flexographic printing industry,” said Sam Ota, division president, Graphic Systems Division, FUJIFILM North America Corporation. “Our company continues to bring innovative products to the market and we look forward to the opportunity to meet with our flexo print partners to help them identify ways to boost the productivity and profitability of their businesses through our comprehensive solutions portfolio.”

The new DLE Flexo CTP System will help printers increase productivity and deliver higher-quality output. Through its unique plate and imaging technology, the FUJIFILM DLE Flexo CTP System eliminates the multiple processing steps that are characteristic of current technologies; removing the need for costly UV exposure and development equipment. The unique polymer plate achieves sharp, fine image reproduction. An efficient thermal decomposition reaction in the exposed area of the plate plus multi-channel imaging technology increases productivity.

Fujifilm will also display a range of coatings from value based gloss and mattes to imprintable, scuff resistant and laser markable coatings for any label and package printing application. Fujifilm will specifically feature its CodeStream coating, developed by FUJIFILM Hunt Chemicals. This translucent, water-based laser markable coating is tamper-evident, deterring product counterfeiting and preventing the modification of product information such as expiration dates, serialized numbers, and lot codes. Unlike other marking methods, FUJIFILM CodeStream does not release VOC’s, solvents, or airborne particulates on the packaging line. Compatible with most laser writing packaging equipment, it is the first laser marking technology that is consistently readable and verifiable.

During LabelExpo, Fujifilm will also showcase its comprehensive line-up of innovative UV flexo and rotary screen inks designed for performance and value on every substrate type and application including shrinksleeves, lightfast, metallics, fluorescents and thermoformables. A leader in the manufacture of specialty inks, Fujifilm Sericol inks produce excellent print characteristics for sharp, clean and vivid results every time.

The Epson Stylus® Pro WT7900 proofer will be another highlight in Fujifilm’s booth. Designed specifically for proofing flexographic and gravure print jobs that require the color white, the Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 is the world’s first aqueous-based white printing technology. It incorporates Epson’s latest achievements in high-resolution inkjet technology including the breakthrough Epson UltraChrome™ HDR White Ink that introduces an all-new Organic Hollow Resin Particle Technology, which forces light to randomly scatter, producing the illusion of seeing the color white. Unlike traditional white ink chemistry, Epson UltraChrome HDR White Ink is a safer, water-based resin particle - void of any known carcinogens.

Capable of printing directly on both inkjet coated clear and metallic films, in roll or cut sheet, up to 24 inches wide, the Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 can proof virtually any size print job thrown at it. Whether creating contract proofs of various packaging products requiring a clear or metallic base, or producing color accurate packaging mock-ups or prototypes, the Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 can easily proof the most difficult flexographic and gravure print jobs.

Fujifilm will also display a full range of press room supplies for the day-to-day necessities of the flexographic printers.

Demonstrations of Fujifilm’s solutions will run daily on the showroom floor at booth # 1241.
