All Freelance Writing Launches Virtual Book Club for Freelance Writers, Authors and Aspiring Authors

WEBWIRE

PHILADELPHIA -- June 7, 2010 -- Freelance writing blog, All Freelance Writing (http://AllFreelanceWriting.com), launches a virtual book club for freelance writers, authors and aspiring authors with the first book club discussion beginning on the blog on June 21st. Each month readers will have a chance to sign up and vote on that month’s featured book, with topics alternating monthly between the freelance business and book publishing.

“All Freelance Writing has always been about helping writers achieve and surpass their writing and career goals, and supporting authors who do the same feels like a natural fit,” said All Freelance Writing Founder, Jennifer Mattern. “Sometimes the most important topics writers talk about can’t be adequately covered in a blog post or a few tweets. Having a virtual book club for freelance writers and authors offers a chance to explore those more detailed resources while maintaining a sense of community.”

All Freelance Writing readers had a chance to vote on the book club’s format and June’s featured book. The book club pick of the month is Peter Bowerman’s The Well-Fed Writer. Bowerman graciously ran a contest through the blog after being notified that his book would kick off the club discussions. A hard copy version and an e-book version of The Well-Fed Writer were awarded to the winners.

Readers chose to have to the book club discussions in traditional blog format, with a series of questions compiled from Mattern and reader submissions each month, followed by discussions in the comments. Book club discussions will remain open for one week by default, and extended one additional week if the discussion is still active at that time.

The All Freelance Writing Virtual Book Club is the latest in a long line of resources for writers, making All Freelance Writing one of the most comprehensive freelance writing resources on the Web. Other recent releases include a professional freelance writing marketplace, a writers’ market directory, free online tools custom-made for the site’s readers, a collection of exclusive free Wordpress themes available only through the blog, and more. Writers interested in joining the discussion can “sign up” by leaving a comment on the June book club post at http://allfreelancewriting.com/2010/05/29/book-club/all-freelance-writing-virtual-book-club-june-book-choice-and-sign-up/

About All Freelance Writing

All Freelance Writing is a comprehensive freelance writing community and resource collection run by freelance business writer, professional blogger, e-book author, and former public relations consultant -- Jennifer Mattern. The blog was originally launched as a collaborative blog called Six Figure Writers (SFW) in 2006 and became AllFreelanceWriting.com in August of 2007 when the SFW blog was merged with Mattern’s freelance writing jobs blog. The blog now consists of a team of freelance writers covering business-related topics for freelancers such as finding higher paying freelance writing jobs, marketing tips for freelance writers, freelance humor, issues facing work at home parents, writer’s markets, free tools, and more. Mattern is also a co-founder of the Freelance Theater audio play series now housed at All Freelance Writing, and is writing her first book for freelance writers tentatively titled The Query-Free Freelancer. Information about the book is also available on the blog.
