Adobe Announces Education Leader Program
More than 100 Educators from North America and the UK to Participate
SAN JOSE, Calif. — March 28, 2006 — Adobe Systems Incorporated (NASDAQ: ADBE) today announced the Adobe Education Leader program to cultivate education technology innovations by providing educators with resources such as education software, free curriculum, training, and a forum to share best practices. Educators are invited to participate in the program based on their exemplary use of Adobe solutions in the classroom and throughout the school community. The program includes a diverse group of individuals from classroom teachers, technology coordinators and IT directors to school, district and state level administrators.
With more than 100 educators participating, the Adobe Education Leader program combines the best of the Adobe Master Teacher and former Macromedia Education Leader programs. Educators from 32 states, Canada and the UK were selected to act as advocates, mentors, and trainers, and share their expertise and enthusiasm with fellow educators. These educators will develop standards-based curricula and educational resources, which are used worldwide in the areas of 21st century digital communication skills, eLearning, professional development and administrative computing.
“Technology needs to extend beyond the computer lab and into the classroom, enriching education across subject areas,” said Adobe Education Leader Colette Stemple from Coral Reef High School in Coral Springs, Fla. “Adobe software is a bridge to reach students who otherwise might give up on certain subjects. They can use the software to become active learners and explore a subject in their own way and at their own pace.”
“Educators throughout the world have come to rely on Adobe software to engage and inspire their students to bring ideas to life,” said Megan Stewart, director of Worldwide School Solutions at Adobe. “The Adobe Education Leader program gives us an opportunity to recognize the efforts of the most innovative educators, and in turn these educators share best practices with their peers.”
In addition to having access to select education software, free curriculum, and valuable training resources, Adobe Education Leaders can participate in software beta programs, focus groups, and Adobe events. Educators are invited to join the program based on several criteria, including their areas of educational expertise, depth in knowledge of Adobe solutions, professional experience, and industry recognition. Creativity and innovation in the teaching and learning experience and geographic location are also evaluated.
