www.lanzaroteguidebook.com – the in-depth island information website about the popular holiday destination of Lanzarote welcomed over 120,000 visitors for the first time during January. Beating the popular portals best ever previous result of 83,000 visitors in January 2009.

In total the Lanzarote Guidebook site attracted 122,860 visitors during the course of last month. Continuing a process of ongoing growth that has been maintained even during the difficult economic circumstances of 2009. When the total audience for the year rose to 834,916 visitors. So helping to cement the sites position as the most popular English language Lanzarote tourist portal.

According to Editor Nick Ball; “We’ve managed to continue growing audience by constantly adding fresh, relevant content and by pursuing an SEO strategy that has helped us to establish a commanding position at the top of the major search engines for all of the key phrases relevant to our market. As a result anyone who is looking for villas, hotels, apartments, car hire, flights or pretty much anything else to do with the island will find what they want on Lanzarote Guidebook.”

During the course of 2009 foreign tourist arrivals on Lanzarote fell by 13.85% - with the UK market the hardest hit. As the double whammy of the credit crunch and the depreciation of sterling against the euro made itself felt. Lanzarote Guidebook’s large leap in audience suggests though that the corner has now been turned – and that British tourism on the island is about to bounce back.

“We’ve seen a big increase this January in the number of people visiting the site and booking all or part of their holiday in Lanzarote online with us”, continues Nick Ball. “Bookings for villas and apartments are up by around 20% on this time last year. Whilst we are also seeing a marked increase in the number of people enquiring about both long term rentals and property for sale on the island. Both signs that confidence is slowly ebbing back into the British market.”

The Lanzarote Guidebook website was first launched in 2005 and is now also available as quarterly print publication which is distributed free of charge to tourists across the island.
