Air France signs a charter to make travel easier between Metropolitan France and the French Overseas Territories

Air France signed a new charter of voluntary commitments with Patrick Karam, the government official responsible for equality issues in the French overseas territories.

“In January 2009, Air France had already agreed to make travel easier between Metropolitan France and the French Overseas Departments. This charter defines a number of actions to be carried out. All have been successfully implemented. The major commitment to offer 15% seat capacity in economy at the lowest available fare on flights between Metropolitan France and the French Overseas Departments during peak travel periods was a success, with over 75,000 tickets sold”, stated Pierre-Henri Gourgeon, CEO of Air France-KLM. “Today, by extending the benefits of this charter to the Overseas Territories, Air France is contributing to the economical and social development of all the French Overseas Departments and Territories”.

Under the terms of the new charter, Air France will make travel easier between Metropolitan France, Noumea (New Caledonia) and Papeete (French Polynesia) by offering 15% of its overall capacity in economy class at the lowest available fare on the date of travel excluding special offers during peak travel periods.

The French Overseas Territories will benefit from other measures detailed in the charter, such as the offer of low season fares at a 33% discount for underprivileged passengers identified by the State, maintaining the additional baggage allowance and the introduction of payment facilities with the new “Air France Visa” card.

The measures contained in the charter signed by Air France will also be applicable to passengers travelling between Metropolitan France, Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon and Wallis-et-Futuna, on the leg operated by Air France, with connections on Air Saint Pierre flights in Montreal and Air Calin flights in Noumea.

Air France currently operates:

- 4 weekly flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Papeete, via Los Angeles,

- 8 weekly flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Noumea, via Seoul, Osaka or Tokyo.
