Tri Gas and Oil’s Fleet Vehicles Go Green With 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid and LPI Conversions

Tri Gas & Oil of Federalsburg, Maryland is going the extra mile in reducing carbon emissions along the Delmarva Peninsula with the recent purchase of two propane-fueled Ford 150 trucks and a Ford Fusion Hybrid from the Preston Automotive Group in Preston. The company already has several propane-fueled delivery trucks, including its pink, Driven to Find a Cure propane truck—as part of its fleet of vehicles.

The liquid propane injection conversion (LPI) was completed by ROUSH Performance prior to the trucks arriving at Preston Automotive Group. ROUSH Performance, with a long track record among race car circuits, is known as the first specialty-vehicle company to combine race-proven technologies with advanced automotive engineering.

The trucks save money on operating costs while being more environmentally conscious. Traditionally used as a clean, efficient home heating and appliance fuel, propane used as an automotive fuel helps to reduce harmful emissions by significant amounts, including 18% less greenhouse gases, 20% less nitrous oxide and 60% less carbon monoxide. And with more than 97% of the United States’ propane supplies comes from refining and production done in North America, it helps to reduce our country’s dependence on foreign oil.

The Ford Fusion gasoline-electric hybrid is also good for the environment. EPA ratings for the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid are 41 mpg city and 36 mpg highway, making it the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid mid-size sedan on the road. The 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid has also been added to the top “Top 10 Green Cars” list by Kelly Blue Book. It can go over 700 miles between fill-ups, which for the average commuter translates into a stop at the pump once a month.

“We recognize our role as corporate citizens of the Delmarva Peninsula,” said Tri Gas & Oil Chairman Keith McMahan. “We’re not just promoting the use of propane with these trucks, we’re promoting acting more responsibly in protecting our environment and the region in which our grandchildren will be raised.”

Preston Automotive’s President David Wilson is also pleased with his dealerships offerings. “The demand for hybrids and cleaner-running cars and trucks is growing,” stated Wilson. “Preston Automotive is pleased to not only meet this demand, but to be a trailblazer in the variety and availability of the vehicles we can provide.”

Preston Automotive Group services the Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania area with Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda, Suzuki, Hyundai, and Nissan brands. The auto group carries the region’s largest selection of new and used cars and trucks. Additionally, the dealership services all makes and models, both imported and domestic cars with Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified and factory-trained technicians.
