Citi Mobile® provides a suite of mobile banking services

Bangkok – Citibank Thailand’s customers will now need only their mobile phones to check their account information, pay bills and transfer money.

Leading the way, Citibank, the first foreign bank in Thailand to introduce mobile-based banking, today launched Citi Mobile®. This is Citibank’s browser-based mobile banking solution that enables customers to access banking services via their mobile phones while they are on the move.

Citi Mobile® solutions comprise four key services – Citi Mobile Banking, Citi Mobile Payments, Citi Mobile Enquiry and Citi Mobile Alerts. Customers with internet access on their mobile phone can now connect to their Citibank internet banking account to manage their personal finance and payments anytime and anywhere.

Mr. Yuenyong Ken Songsiridej, Country Marketing Director, Citibank, N.A., said: “The launch of Citi Mobile® reaffirms Citibank Thailand?s program of ’3 C – Convenience Redefined’ where we aim to serve customers through ’Click’, ’Connect’ and ’Celebrate’ themes. With Citi Mobile®, the ’Connect’ theme is enhanced as our customers can now enjoy greater convenience and access to banking. We are pleased to be the first foreign bank to bring added convenience to our customers. We believe this is the right time to introduce mobile banking as Thailand is at a mature stage in terms of the number of mobile phone users and the mobile phone non-voice service is growing rapidly.”

Added Yuenyong, “We are confident that Citibank customers will quickly adopt the use of Citi Mobile® services as the number of our internet banking customers has sharply increased and more than doubled in two years. Hence, the extension of the service from Internet banking to mobile banking will be well received.”

Citi Mobile Banking

Citibank customers can now access Citibank Internet Banking via their mobile phones and login with their Citibank online username and password. Summary balances of customers’ credit card, checking, savings, time deposit and loan account can be viewed with transaction details up to the past 90 days. Customers can also transfer funds between their accounts and to other registered Citibank online payees.

Banking with Citi Mobile® is a secure process with end-to-end encryption. The service utilizes two-factor authentication and no financial information is stored on the mobile phone. The online session will be automatically terminated after five minutes of idle use, preventing unauthorized use by anyone else.

Citi Mobile Payments

At the launch, Citibank credit cardholders can now easily refill “happy” call-credit, a DTAC mobile top-up service. Cardholders simply register for the new service via SMS which will enable them to refill the airtime credits by directly deducting the amount from their Citibank credit card. Citi Mobile Payments offer the refill credits for up to six mobile phone numbers, helping cardholders to refill the mobile phone credits for their family members and friends. Additional bill payment services via SMS through Citibank credit cards will be available soon which will enable Citibank customers to pay bills 24 x7.

Citi Mobile Enquiry

Customers on the move can continue to obtain their required information through the SMS Enquiry Service. Without any enrollment, current Citibank customers can check their available credit limit and latest credit card statement. They can also search for restaurants that offer Citibank dining privileges by simply typing the message and sending it to 4808588. Fee for this service is at 3 Baht per SMS (VAT is excluded).

Citi Mobile Alerts

Through Citi Mobile Alerts, customers will be reminded of key dates through SMS, free-of-charge:

* Bank Alerts: Time Deposit maturity, Time Deposit rollover, Time Deposit subscription
* Card Alerts: Credit Card limit nearing maximum, Payment due or past due, Card Activation and Returned Card (if the card cannot be delivered to customer’s mailing address), Internet payment transactions, etc. Credit Limit Increase alert will be available soon.

To celebrate the official launch, the first 5,000 Citibank customers who login to Citibank Online via Citi Mobile® from January to February 2010 will receive 250 Citi Rewards points (for Citibank credit cardholders and Citibank Ready Credit customers) or 25 THB (for Citibank Cash Back cardholder).

Citi Mobile® Banking platform was developed in partnership with Mobile Money Ventures LLC (MMV), a joint venture between Citi and SK Telecom, the global solution provider of the next generation of mobile financial services. Enhancements of Citi Mobile® services will be developed and launched in the coming months to offer greater convenience and accessibility for Citibank Thailand customers on the go.
