TELUS announces campaign that gives $100 for every new TELUS TV customer in Campbell River to support Jeneece Place

Campbell River, B.C. – TELUS today announced that TELUS TV has arrived in Campbell River, offering residents more choice for their TV viewing needs. In support of TELUS’ philosophy to “give where we live”, TELUS is continuing to donate $100 to The Queen Alexandra Foundation for Children in support of Jeneece Place, a home away from home to be located near the Victoria General Hospital for every new TELUS TV customer in Campbell River.

“We’re thrilled to be able to provide TELUS’ IP-based, all digital television service to the residents of Campbell River effective immediately,” said Raymond Lawson, director, TELUS Customer Service Delivery. “TELUS believes in the importance of community. We’re pleased to support Jeneece Place with a donation of $100 in the name of every new TELUS TV customer.”

“Receiving additional support from TELUS and TELUS clients means we can really get started on all the work to build Jeneece Place – and start providing a place for Vancouver Island children and their families to stay while they’re in Victoria for medical treatment,” said Jeneece Edroff, the fifteen year old girl whose vision will make Jeneece Place’s a reality.

TELUS TV offers over 390 channels, including 35 in High Definition (HD); a great selection of radio stations; an HD Personal Video Recorder (PVR) allowing you to record, pause and replay live TV; HD Video On Demand and HD Pay Per View, so you can order movies and live events from the comfort of your couch. TELUS TV also offers onscreen Call Display right on your TV and time shifting so that there are more chances to catch your favourite programs outside your local time zone.

TELUS is expanding its HDTV coverage through a concerted wireline broadband network enhancement program in 2009. This is part of a more than $600 million investment focused primarily on advanced wireless and wireline broadband infrastructure in British Columbia announced earlier this year.

“Our professional team of installers is excited to bring this new service to the residents of Campbell River. The digital signal delivers a fantastic High Definition picture quality that makes it great for watching all your favourite TV shows. As well, our Interactive Programming Guide ensures that it is easy to find and select the show you want to watch,” said Dirk Jezierski, manager, TELUS Customer Service Delivery for Campbell River.

TELUS TV donations will improve the quality of life for Vancouver Island’s sick kids and their families for years to come as the money raised will benefit the Queen Alexandra Foundation for Children in support of Jeneece Place, a home away from home to be located near the Victoria General Hospital.

TELUS also began offering TELUS Satellite TV in June 2009. TELUS Satellite TV service complements TELUS’ IP-based TV service by expanding the availability of TELUS home bundles including TELUS TV, Home Phone and High Speed Internet to more than 90 per cent of households across British Columbia and Alberta.
