The personal injury department at Shropshire based law firm Lanyon Bowdler are celebrating this week after learning that Neil Lorimer, partner and head of the Personal Injury team, is the 2009 winner of the Eclipse Proclaim Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year (Claimant) Award.

Speaking after receiving his award, Neil Lorimer said “I am a little lost for words but obviously I’m delighted to have won, my thanks go to all those who have supported and helped me get to this point in my career – it really does feel like a once in a lifetime experience.”

The event, organised by Barker Brooks Media, took place at The London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, and was hosted by comedian and 8 out of 10 Cats star Sean Lock. Neil and his guests joined over 350 professionals from the personal injury industry at the black tie dinner.

The Eclipse awards aim to highlight and celebrate the outstanding achievements of individual personal injury solicitors and organisations from across the sector. Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year is one of the event’s most highly regarded awards.

Each year a panel of judges whittle down a huge list of potential winners in order to identify a short list of three lawyers, in their comments they noted that Neil Lorimer was “known for his excellent command of the law and a meticulous, thoughtful approach. ” Judges also highlighted his “intimidating reputation as an astute tactician” and commented that “He is respected by his colleagues and highly regarded by his clients. He is known for his professional competence as well as being a down to earth, likeable person.”

In order to be short listed, hopeful personal injury lawyers are required to demonstrate outstanding client care, including sensitivity to diverse needs and backgrounds, good communication with other parties and excellent organisational skills, particularly in more complex cases.

Lanyon Bowdler is one of Shropshire’s largest law firms with 13 partners and over 150 experienced staff. The firm has four offices in Wellington, Ludlow, Telford Town Centre, and Shrewsbury at Abbey Lawn Business Park.
