Canon’s Latest Portable and Compact DR Systems Offer Outstanding Diagnostic Imaging Quality to Meet Diverse Needs

Las Vegas.– Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging technologies, today unveiled three new digital radiography (DR) systems – the Canon CXDI-55G Multipurpose Portable Flat Panel Detector, the Canon CXDI-55C Premium Portable Flat Panel Detector and the Canon CXDI-60C Compact Portable Flat Panel Detector. In addition to the new offerings and current line-up of DR systems and solutions, Canon will showcase the Canon imagePRESS C1+ color printing solution in the Canon booth (# 409) at the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) 2009 Annual Meeting and Exposition at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas (August 10th – 12th).

“At AHRA 2009, visitors at the Canon booth will witness how our extensive investment in imaging research has produced extraordinary achievements with the introduction of three new portable, flat panel DR solutions,” said Tsuneo Imai, senior director and general manager, Medical Systems Division, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “Now more than ever facilities and practices are looking for ways to mainstream their operations without sacrificing quality patient care. The Canon CXDI-55G, CXDI-55C, and CXDI-60C flat panel detectors offer a variety of configuration options to help meet their diverse needs.”

Canon CXDI-55G, CXDI-55C and CXDI-60C
The Canon CXDI-55G and CXDI-55C flat panel detectors are the thinnest flat panel detectors the Company has offered to date, just 0.6 inches thick, the same thickness as a standard film cassette. Offering an effective imaging area of 14 x 17 inches, both models accommodate a wide variety of locations including skull, spine, chest, abdomen, and extremity examination. Weighing just 7.5 pounds, the Canon CXDI-55G and CXDI-55C flat panel detectors are light enough for use in trauma centers and Intensive Care Units (ICUs), simple to grip and handle so that both the patient and X-ray technician can comfortably hold it in place during image capture.

The Canon CXDI-60C advanced LANMIT detector technology acquires high-quality diagnostic images with minimal X-ray exposure to patients, making it an ideal device for pediatric and orthopedic applications. Thin, lightweight and robust weighing only 5.5 pounds and less than an inch think (0.9 inches), the Canon CXDI-60C flat panel detector offers an effective imaging area of 9 x 11 inches. Equipped with a smooth carrying handle, the Canon CXDI-60C flat panel detector allows for easy handling, even by the patient, if necessary. A detachable sensor cable enables easy room-to-room installation from multiple locations such as the patient’s bedside or wheelchair, trauma or ICU (with an optional power box and PC) and fits right into most neo-natal incubator trays.

The Canon CXDI-55G, CXDI-55C, and CXDI-60C flat panel detectors all feature a detachable sensor cable for time effective transport and simple installation. The detachable sensor cable provides power to the unit and transfers data, and X-ray images can be confirmed on an optional preview monitor virtually immediately after exposure. If another exposure is required, the detector will be ready in seconds due to a fast refresh cycle.

The Canon CXDI-55G, CXDI-55C, and CXDI-60C flat panel detectors all offer extensive workflow capabilities, all are compatible enabling seamless data transfer to any DICOM1 device, PACS or RIS for efficient data management, printing, archiving and remote viewing of images. Such workflow efficiency can mean less wait time for patients as well as higher patient throughput and less of a burden on staff.

Printing Solutions for Healthcare Professional
The imagePRESS C1+ color printing solution produces high quality color prints for healthcare professionals looking for a cost effective way to add value and introduce new capabilities in environments where quality is a critical factor in relaying messages and presenting data. When combined with the Virtual Imaging’s Cypher DICOM Print Solution2 and utilized with Canon’s advanced portable and general digital radiography (DR) systems and solutions or other modalities, the imagePRESS C1+ color printing solution can produce high-quality paper prints with outstanding image quality and vibrant colors from any DICOM modality with a Print SCU capability. Although the prints are not intended for diagnostic purposes, the imagePRESS C1+ color printing solution is specifically designed for print environments that require high levels of accuracy, detail and consistency in image reproduction. The imagePRESS C1+ color printing solution has the ability to handle a wide range of popular paper sizes (up to 13 x 19 inches) and types including coated and textured stocks, without compromising image quality to share with referring physicians, patients, insurance companies and authorities, as well as for teaching purposes.
