For the first time, full video management – collaboration, editing, publishing and syndication – is in the hands of all MindTouch users for free, using Kaltura’s built-in online video platform

OSCON 2009 .-MindTouch, developer of one of the top open source projects in the world, and Kaltura, developer of the first open source online video platform, announced today that the two companies have joined together to bring built-in online video capabilities to the MindTouch platform.

Enterprise users can now add collaborative videos to their MindTouch-built collaborative networks, taking the experience far beyond merely posting a link to a video. Kaltura’s open source online video platform provides users with full video management and collaboration tools, without the need for a separate application download or installation.

“Kaltura provides collaborative video making and editing in the true spirit of what we address when we talk about collaborative networks,” said Aaron Fulkerson, CEO, MindTouch. “Our strategy is to provide a complete open-source platform with a full spectrum of functionalities, which for today’s enterprise must include video. We’re proud to be the first to bring true collaborative video to our customers.”

Prior to the integration between MindTouch and Kaltura, enterprise users were confined to embedding links to third-party-hosted videos on their sites. With the new partnership, MindTouch customers will be able to publish, edit, syndicate and even monetize video content, while maintaining creative control. Kaltura will be providing the first 10 GB of hosting and streaming free to MindTouch enterprise users.

“Kaltura’s open platform was designed to seamlessly integrate with other platforms – and in fact, Kaltura and its developer community have created a slew of extensions for CMS platforms including WordPress, Drupal, MediaWiki, Moodle and ELGG,” said Ron Yekutiel, Chairman & CEO, Kaltura. “What’s really exciting about our partnership with MindTouch, is the fact that our platform’s full capabilities are already built-in to the MindTouch offering – there’s no need to download Kaltura separately – it doesn’t get any easier than that.”
