Spring 2009 saw Explore Living, the new homes specialist, receive a coveted ROSPA Occupational Health and Safety Award. The company was handed the Gold Award on Wednesday 13th May, where David Rawlins, RoSPA Awards Manager (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents), lead proceedings.

At the ceremony various speakers talked about the subject of occupational health and safety, and its role in the modern workplace. Speaking about Explore Living’s approach to the subject, it was said “Explore Living has shown a commitment to protecting the health and well-being of its employees and others.”

The same speaker continued, “Entering the RoSPA awards reinforces the message that good health and safety is good for business, and clearly demonstrates an organisation’s dedication to improving performance in this crucial area.”

People from both RoSPA and Explore Living attended the event, which was heralded as a big success by all those who attended. Key people went on to point out the importance of maintaining occupational health and safety, even in the current economic climate, where it might be put on the back burner due to financial constraints.

Explore Living is part of Laing O’Rourke, noted for being Britain’s largest privately owned construction company. Explore Living specialises in catering for the first time buyer and families. The company’s aims are to provide housing that departs from more common residential architectural designs, as well as improving health and safety levels across its developments. The parent company was established in 1978, with Explore Living being set up more recently in 2005.
