Greater flexibility in controlling swimming pool water quality: New software update for Depolox Pool measurement and control system

WEBWIRE

Erlangen, Germany, In order to simplify measurement and control of the water quality of water in swimming pools and spas, Siemens Water Technologies is now offering a new software update for the Depolox Pool measurement and control system. The update provides greater flexibility in adapting the DIN contact – which passes on information on the hygiene parameters to the swimming pool control system – to the regulations applicable at the place of use. Moreover, it is now easier to combine the Depolox electronics module with any Depolox measuring modules. The software update also enables additional links to fieldbus systems and therefore supports data exchange with higher-level systems as well. The Version 2.10 software update can now be downloaded from the Internet for free. available on the Internet for download free of charge.

In accordance with DIN 19643 “Treatment of swimming pool and spa water,” the Depolox Pool measurement and control system measures up to seven parameters, including free and combined chlorine, total chlorine content, pH value, ORP value, conductivity, and temperature; it also has a metering-quantity indicator. In order to adhere to the DIN limits for combined chlorine, an enabling contact is available. This DIN contact can be used to automatically lower circulation when necessary. This economical operating mode is especially suitable for night operation or for times of low bather load in swimming pools.

The software update now enables more flexible use of the DIN contact. The previously stored fixed upper and lower limits for the values of free chlorine, overall chlorine content, pH value and ORP value can now be selected freely. As a result, the DIN contact can be adapted to the regulations applicable at the place of use. This is important in countries where DIN 19643 is not applicable and, above all, in the private sector.

The new software also facilitates the combination of different Depolox measuring modules. While the pool management system from Siemens Water Technologies has to-date always consisted of the Depolox Pool electronics module and the measuring module of the same name, the electronics module can now also be connected to the Depolox 4 and Depolox 5 measuring modules. This means that already-existing measuring modules can continue being used.

In addition, the software update increases the number of ways in which Depolox devices can be linked up to fieldbus systems. Fieldbus modules allow connection to Profibus DP, Profinet IO or Modbus TCP via the RS 485 interface of the analyzer and controller units. This enables data exchange with higher-level systems such as control units or visualization systems. With the current software version, the Depolox Pool measurement and control system now has a CAN sensor/actuator bus as well. This ensures data exchange with measuring and control systems, sensors and actuators of Siemens Water Technologies.

Version 2.0 software can be downloaded free of charge at: http://www.siemens.de/wallace-tiernan.
