Breakthrough for EDB in the Danish card services market

WEBWIRE

Oslo, 22 June 2009 - Nordea, which is the largest Nordic bank, and EDB have entered into an agreement for EDB to supply IT solutions and operating services for Nordea’s 500 ATMs in Denmark. The agreement runs to the end of 2012, and means that EDB is now established as a supplier of services for ATMs throughout the Nordic market.

“This contract with Nordea is of great strategic significance for EDB. It gives us a foothold in Denmark, which is a very exciting market for EDB’s solutions for the banking and finance sector, and it also means that we are now in position as a supplier of services for ATMs throughout the Nordic market as well as in Great Britain”, comments Wiljar Nesse, EVP - Bank and Finance, at EDB. EDB now supplies services for more than 3,000 ATMs across the Nordic countries and U.K.

New solutions for Nordea’s ATMs in Denmark
Nordea will now have access to the latest generation of software for ATMs, built around international standards. The solution is fully compliant with the PCI (Payment Card Industry) requirements.

The EDB delivered ATM solution includes multi-vendor capability, and can be used for ATMs delivered by different suppliers. This means that the bank will not be dependent on any particular ATM hardware supplier. In addition, EDB will provide online distribution of software and solutions for ATM management and processing of transactions, as well as second-line support. The multi-vendor software also supports deposit and recycling environment, and these services are options in the agreement for Nordea Denmark.

Roll out of the solution
EDB will assist Nordea with its project to evaluate its current network of ATMs, upgrade the ATM hardware and communication and roll out of the new software solution. The solutions used will be developed and administered by EDB’s centre of expertise in Trondheim.

Nordea’s collaboration with EDB delivers economies of scale
Nordea has been a customer of EDB in Norway for over 20 years, and collaborates extensively with EDB in the ATM area in Norway. The flexibility offered by EDB’s solutions means that Nordea will benefit from economies of scale by adding the new ATM contract to its existing agreement with EDB in Norway, while at the same time the new solutions will meet the particular requirements for ATMs in the Danish market.

About the contract
The contract with Nordea gives EDB responsibility for supplying solutions and operating services for the bank’s 500 ATMs in Denmark. The new services will be ready for use by Nordea’s customers in the second half of 2009. The contract runs to 31 December 2012, with a rolling annual extension option.
