SiBEAM, Inc. Named Finalist for 2009 American Business Award

SUNNYVALE, California – May 26, 2009 - SiBEAM, Inc., a leading innovator of millimeter wave (mmWave) semiconductor solutions and developer of high-speed wireless communications platforms, announced today its recognition as a 2009 American Business Awards Finalist for their groundbreaking 60GHz WirelessHD chipsets. Based on high scores from a month of preliminary judging, SiBEAM’s WirelessHD will compete in the “New Product or Service of the Year - Media & Entertainment” category.

The 2009 American Business Awards honor the achievements of businesses worldwide, from products and organizations to team and individuals. Each nominated company or product is judged, evaluated and selected based on a defined set of criteria by business professionals and members of the Award’s Board. The American Business Award winners will be named on June 22, 2009, at the Awards dinner in New York City.

SiBEAM was the first to break the barriers of 60GHz technology with the development of working 60GHz chipsets for non-line-of-sight applications built using standard low cost CMOS manufacturing techniques. In January 2008, SiBEAM announced the world’s first WirelessHD chipset solutions. These chipsets, based on its award-winning OmniLink60 wireless semiconductor technology, are the first to deliver true, lossless uncompressed A/V at 1080p, the preferred choice of consumer electronics manufacturers. At CES 2009, SiBEAM announced the mass availability of their WirelessHD chipsets, while major consumer electronics companies such as Panasonic, LG Electronics, Toshiba, and Gefen announced products based on the WirelessHD specification. Panasonic’s Viera Z1 with WirelessHD is currently available in Japan with a June U.S. and EU release date. Additionally, LGE’s WirelessHD LH80 is now available in Korea, with availability in the U.S. and EU to follow in May and June, respectively.

This is the latest industry recognition received by SiBEAM. It won the prestigious EE Times ACE Awards Program’s “Most Promising New Technology” Award in March 2009, and was named a finalist for both the Andrew Seybold Award and the Red Herring North America 100 award in 2009, as well. In February 2009, SiBEAM was again included in EE Times’ 60 Emerging Start-ups List. In late 2007, SiBEAM was awarded the GSA Fabless Start-Up to Watch Award and the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) “Best of Innovations” award in the enabling technologies category.
