VA Clinic Provides Primary Care and Specialized Services for Local Veterans

SACRAMENTO, Calif.- Health Net Federal Services, LLC, the government operations division of Health Net, Inc. (NYSE:HNT), today announced it has been re-awarded a contract by the Minneapolis VA Medical Center (VAMC) to provide primary care, mental health care, women’s health care, and preventive health services to veterans enrolled in the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) located in Hibbing, Minn.

“We are very pleased to be re-awarded a contract to provide health care services to veterans in the Hibbing, Minnesota area,” said Donna Hoffmeier, Health Net’s VA Program officer. “With this award, we also are happy to announce that we will expand the clinic’s capacity this summer to serve more veterans in and around the Hibbing community.”

Health Net has partnered with the Minneapolis VAMC to deliver primary care and mental health services at the Hibbing CBOC since 2003. However, to better meet the needs of the growing veteran population, Health Net will be relocating the Hibbing CBOC to a new, state-of-the-art facility located within the Irongate Plaza, at 990 West 41st Street, in Hibbing, Minn. This new location will have the capability to accommodate up to 7,500 veterans, more than double the current patient enrollment. The transition is scheduled for July 2009, and is expected to be seamless to patient services. One significant benefit of the move to local veterans is that mental health and medical providers will be co-located in the new facility.

To better serve the health care needs of veterans, Health Net is offering a new service for specialized, education-based disease management care focusing on the top three diagnoses in the Hibbing area – diabetes, hypertension and congestive heart failure. Other health care programs offered at the Hibbing CBOC include preventive care classes, physical and mental health screening, and well woman services.
