Huawei deploys commercial FTTB network for HanseNet in Germany

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (“Huawei”), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, announced that it has successfully completed its first phase commercial FTTB (fiber to the building) network for the pilot project of HanseNet in Hamburg.

HanseNet’ s launched the FTTB project in June 2008. In the following November HanseNet started with 50 buildings and achieved a great success. The second phase kicked off recently and will add fiber optics to another 500 buildings.

The FTTB network deploys Huawei’ s MDU (multi-dwelling unit) products MA5651G/MA5652G, offering consumers high speed broadband access based on latest VDSL2 technology by utilizing chipset from German supplier. With Huawei’ s FTTB solution, HanseNet’ s high speed network can support data rate up to 100Mbps per user and an upload of up to 10Mbps per user.

Based on this fact, HanseNet decided to start a pilot project with this solution, enabling it to offer customers the same level of service and bandwidths. This helps a carrier to win new subscribers by offering Multi-Play services like very high speed internet access or HDTV.
