Timed with Supercomm 2009, the ’Empowered By Telecommunications’ Awards Provides United States Telecom Association (USTelecom) Carrier Members an Opportunity to Share Best Practices and Market Successes.

HERNDON, VA.– NEC Corporation of America, a premier provider of network and IT solutions, announced today it will officially extend its Call-for-Entries of the ’Empowered By Telecommunications’ awards program. This extension is aligned with the recent shift in timing of Supercomm 2009, which was originally scheduled for June 9-11 in Chicago, and has now been moved to October 21-23, 2009.

The official ’Empowered by Telecommunications’ award Call-for-Entries will now remain open until 11:59pm Eastern Time on Monday, September 14, 2009. With this extension, NEC Corporation of America encourages new entrants to highlight significant achievements within the U.S. telecommunications community for calendar year 2008, as well as the first quarter of 2009.

“The ’Empowered By Telecommunications’ awards present a great opportunity for USTelecom carrier members to share technical and business achievements with industry peers - especially in a time where there is market excitement and anticipated growth driven by the broadband stimulus package,” said Boris Sinkovec, general manager, Sales and Marketing, NEC Corporation of America. “With the award now being announced at Supercomm in October 2009, entrants have more time to submit their future of broadband growth stories and showcase their vision and leadership initiatives.”

The awards program, which is open to all USTelecom carrier member organizations, will recognize three winners for their outstanding network deployments and chief successes at the USTelecom Membership Reception at Supercomm 2009. The award categories will highlight achievements in: business-value, technical-achievement and overall-market success.

Award winners will receive a US$10,000.00 donation made by NEC Corporation of America to an approved educational institution of the award winner’s choice, within their service area. There is no application fee to submit.
