WEBWIRE

WHAT: Mali™ graphics technology from ARM, now shipping in over 80 million handsets, will be on show at the 22nd annual Game Developers Conference (GDC). Visit the ARM booth to find out more about how high performance Mali graphics acceleration brings visual entertainment to life on all advanced devices including mobile handsets, personal media players (PMPs), navigation devices, digital picture frames and set-top boxes.

Demonstrations will include compelling gaming visuals and advanced user interfaces, showing what is possible with scalable, power-efficient Mali graphics processors supporting resolutions up to 1080p, enabling rich user experiences on all portable devices.

Also on display will be the world’s first JSR297 content running on a GPU and a number of the award winning games from the International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA), an ARM-sponsored initiative supporting the drive for advanced, innovative and creative content running on Mali GPUs.

Dave Shreiner, director of graphics technology at ARM, will also be educating audiences on OpenGL ES as part of the day-long Khronos Developer University tutorial.

WHERE: ARM will demonstrate how Mali graphics acceleration brings visual entertainment to life in North Hall booth #5316 at San Francisco’s Moscone Center. The Khronos Developer University will take place in Room 3002 of the North Hall.

WHEN: GDC takes place March 23-27, 2009.
The Khronos Developer University will run from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. on March 24.

WHY: The ARM Mali family of graphics processing units includes:

* Mali-400 MP GPU - the most advanced GPU in the market for high-performance multicore processing
* Mali-200 GPU - the only OpenGL ES 2.0 compliant GPU to support resolutions up to 1080p
* Mali-55 GPU - the smallest GPU in the world at 1mm2 on 65nm

The complete Mali graphics stack for accelerating UI, gaming, Internet and navigation applications is supported by pre-integrated and tested Mali graphics software including Mali-JSR297 and Mali-JSR184 technology.
