Spend Ten to Jump Start our Economy

WEBWIRE

ANNISTON, AL - March 16, 2009 - Dr. Tim Brunson announced the “Spend Ten to Jump Start Our Economy” campaign. The intent is to get every citizen and resident of the United States to spend a minimum of $10 on Tuesday, March 31, 2009. This will have an immediate effect of injecting $3 billion in new economic stimulus and will soon have an impact ten times greater. The hope is that this will inspire a trend which will continue until our economy has fully recovered. This is a grass roots effort to change consumer attitude by using collective effort to again rekindle demand.

Our economy is traditionally consumer-driven. In fact, consumer spending in the US makes up about 70% of Gross Domestic Product. The collapse of the housing bubble and the subsequent crisis in our financial institutions are major factors in our current situation. This has led to consumer fear, a rapid reduction in demand, increased retail and wholesale inventories, and massive layoffs. While some are waiting for eventual government stimulus and a repair of the credit market, the SPEND TEN campaign is designed to create an immediate solution. When the attitudes of consumers change, recovery will occur. We, the American people, have the power in our hands to fix this economy.

The campaign began on Friday, March 6. The initial tactic is to use viral e-mail, use social networking through Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook. This is being followed up by e-mails and letters to the media, President Obama, members of Congress, and state governors. As evidenced by the on-line petition, already SPEND TEN is picking up momentum.
