Hotetur, one of Spain’s major tourist holdings, benefits from free and low cost Skype calls with VoSKY Exchange PBX-to-Skype gateway.

Sunnyvale, California – VoSKY, the market leader in developing Skype for business solutions, today announced that Hotel chain Hotetur, property of Group Marsans, has been the latest to deploy its award winning VoSKY Exchange PBX-to-Skype gateway to reduce communications costs and enhance employee productivity. By integrating its PBX to VoSKY Exchange, Hotetur is able to connect to Skype to enjoy the benefits of Internet Telephony.

With more than 30 sites located throughout Spain, Cuba, Mexico and the Dominican Republic, Hotetur needed a communications solution which would let its different locations, and its personnel who travel all over the world, to contact one another easily and cost-effectively. Hotetur searched for a telephone tariff, which could be revised in relation to the volume of calls made by the hotels. However, this proved to be difficult, so they looked for an alternative method of communication, and after assessing several options the hotel chain opted for VoSKY’s solution.

Álvaro Rivas, IT manager for Hotetur, explains: "We wanted to reduce Hotetur’s calling costs without loosing any voice quality and without having to invest in a new telephony system. We wanted a solution which was both practical and achievable.”

Initially, Hotetur used Skype like most normal consumers, deploying it on employees’ PCs, but after looking more closely at its usage they decided to implement a business solution that fit in with their communication needs. They consulted Skype’s web page (www.skype.com) and found that the Business Applications section of the site recommended VoSKY’s gateway solutions as a way to manage Skype calls without having to invest in a new telephony system. “VoSKY’s gateway was what we were looking for, now all we had to do was try it out,” continues Álvaro Rivas.

A field trial was carried out at Hotetur’s head office in Majorca. Álvaro Rivas adds: “What we liked was that the integration of the PBX with VoSKY’s gateway was a quick and very easy task.”

Currently around 60 to 80 hotel employees are using the new solution to make calls between offices and hotels in different countries. In the future, the chain plans to go global with the implementation so that the offices and hotel sites in the other countries can also benefit from the advantages of Internet telephony.

Hotetur are also looking at how Internet telephony can benefit their customers. Giving their customers in-room access to reduced calling costs through Skype will add value to the services they offer to their clientele.

In addition the chain is considering the possibility of integrating the “Click-to-Call” button on their website (www.hotetur.com), so that their clients can contact Customer Services with just the click of a mouse.

David Tang, VP of global marketing for VoSKY, said: “By integrating VoSKY’s gateway with its current PBX, Hotetur has managed to not only reduce its calling costs, but has also improved the level of communication between its offices and with traveling personnel. All this has been done at low cost to the company, and what’s more VoSKY’s gateway will pay for itself in only a matter of months.”

According to Hotetur’s own statistics, its offices in Majorca make on average around 25 hours worth of calls a month. By integrating the VoSKY Exchange Pro VIS8 with the hotel’s PBX at their head office, in the last few weeks Hotetur has already managed to save on its phone bills with free calls to Skype users. Additionally, employees traveling around the world have also benefited from low calling costs when ringing the head office.

Another hotel in the chain, the BluBay Grand Emerald in Mexico, is also taking advantage of the benefits Internet telephony has to offer by having integrated a VoSKY gateway with their existing PBX.

Álvaro Rivas concludes: “We are extremely satisfied with VoSKY’s gateway. The reduction in our phone bill has been substantial and immediate. In fact, we predict that we will have recovered the cost of the gateway in just a few months; and the best thing of all is that this solution requires zero maintenance!”
