March 12, 2009 – Atlanta, Georgia --Atlanta legal nurse consultant Liz Buddenhagen, RN, CLNC, participated in the Cervical Lumbar Dissection Course at Life University Chiropractic School in Marietta, Georgia February 21-22, 2009.

“Knowing anatomy can help win cases” says Buddenhagen. Anatomy knowledge is an integral part of her Atlanta legal nurse consultant practice and long clinical career as an RN.

The seminar was presented by Roy W. Sweat, D.C., B.C.A.O., of the Sweat Institute and John Romfh, B.A., M.A., Ph.D. (Anatomy), with lectures followed up with dissection lab demonstrations.

The Sweat Institute for Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic is a facility in Atlanta, Georgia and the home of the Founder, Pioneer and Developer of the Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic Program, Dr. Roy W. Sweat, and Dr. Matthew H. Sweat. “Patients fly in and travel from all over the world to get their Atlas adjusted. The art and science of Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic is the study of the spine with specific concentration of the first bone in the neck, the Atlas vertebrae.”

Dr. John Romfh earned his PhD. at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and taught at the University Of Mississippi School Of Medicine in Jackson, Mississippi for 20 years prior to his position at Life University as professor of anatomy for 10 years. He teaches Spinal Anatomy, Musculoskeletal Gross Anatomy, Visceral Gross Anatomy, Head and Neck Gross Anatomy there.

This Atlanta legal nurse consultant found the instruction and gross dissection lab to be excellent. There were chiropractors from as far away as China and Spain, as well as Arizona, Florida, Iowa and Georgia attending the course.

Topics covered and viewed were Abnormalities of the Cervical Spine, Superficial Back Muscles, Brachial Plexus, C1 and C2 Dorsal Nerve RAMI, Vertebral Artery, and TMJ.

In addition to anatomy studied in nursing school, Buddenhagen has continued anatomy study through varied programs including Samuel D. Hodge, Jr., Esq., of Temple University, “Anatomy for Lawyers” and Laurie Craig, award winning Director of Education at the Atlanta School of Massage, and Anatomy and Physiology instructor.

Bill Faison, Esq. of Faison & Gillespie, Durham, NC, presented how anatomy has become key to winning many of his medically related cases, at the Eastern North Carolina American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants seminar in October, 2008, attended by Buddenhagen.

Faison empathized how legal nurse consultants assist him both unraveling the anatomy in preparing his cases and breaking it down in ways a jury can understand.
