Europeans choose Kaspersky Lab antivirus solutions


Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, is pleased to announce that research by GfK Retail & Technology shows 35% of PC users in Europe prefer Kaspersky Lab antivirus solutions.

The results of the poll conducted by GfK Retail & Technology underlined the leading position of the Kaspersky Lab brand in the home user segment of the Western European security software market. The results also reflect the growing emphasis now being placed on IT security issues.

“Cybercrime today has become a well-organized business, whose main aim is to extort as much money as possible from users,” says Ralf Tegethoff, Kaspersky Lab’s Regional Director of Consumer Sales Europe. “The professionalism of today’s cybercriminals is a far cry from the self-taught virus writers of earlier times. As a result, the quantity and, more importantly, the quality of threats have grown considerably over the last few years. The research took place at IT retail outlets from August to October 2008. The specialists at GfK Retail & Technology based their results on interviews with several thousand customers who purchased antivirus software in six countries across Western Europe.
