American Airlines Offers Triple AAdvantage Miles On Flights Between Boston And The West Coast

BOSTON – American Airlines today announced that it is offering triple AAdvantage ® miles for nonstop travel between Boston – Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego from March 2 through May 31, 2009 (nonstop service to San Diego begins April 7). In addition, American said today it is putting nearly all of its destinations from Boston – not just the West Coast – on sale for travel through May 20.

With the AAdvantage triple miles promotion, after just two round trips to the West Coast, customers will earn enough miles for a free** MileSAAver® Economy Class award within the United States or between the U.S. and the Caribbean. After just three round trips, customers will earn enough miles for a MileSAAver Economy Class award to Europe.

At the same time, American’s Boston fare sale places much of the world affordably at New England’s fingertips with great low fares available to destinations throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe and Asia. Fares from Boston to the West Coast, for example, are just $117* each way with a required round-trip purchase.

Not Just More Miles and Low Fares; More Flights from Boston, Too

Along with triple miles and low fares, American is offering Boston-area customers more flights to the West Coast in the coming weeks, including the return of daily nonstop service to San Diego and the addition of a fourth daily nonstop flight to Los Angeles, both beginning on April 7. American also serves San Francisco with two daily nonstop flights.

Service to other destinations is expanding this spring as well. On April 7, American will add a ninth daily flight to Dallas/Fort Worth and a third daily flight to St. Louis. On May 1, American will add a third flight to London’s Heathrow Airport and resume seasonal nonstop service to Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport.

With the additional flights to the West Coast, Southwest and Europe, American and its regional affiliate, American Eagle, will offer about 70 daily departures from Boston to 20 destinations (including seasonal service) throughout North America, the Caribbean and Europe.

American’s new nonstop flight to San Diego and its additional flight to Dallas/Fort Worth will utilize Boeing 757 aircraft configured with 22 seats in First Class and 166 seats in the Main Cabin. Additional service to St. Louis will be operated with Boeing MD80 aircraft configured with 16 seats in First Class and 124 seats in the Main Cabin.

The additional flights to Los Angeles and London will utilize Boeing 767-300 aircraft, featuring 30 lie-flat seats in American’s Next-Generation Business Class Cabin and 195 seats in the Main Cabin. For its seasonal Boston-Paris flight, American will initially use a Boeing 767, then on July 13 will switch to a Boeing 757 aircraft equipped with new seats with LCD screens on seat-backs, together with a modified Next Generation Business Class Seat in that cabin.

AAdvantage Triple Miles Promotion Terms and Conditions

Offer is valid only on American Airlines marketed and operated nonstop flights between Boston (BOS) and San Francisco (SFO), Los Angeles (LAX) or San Diego (SAN) from March 2, 2009, through May 31, 2009. Service between Boston and San Diego begins on April 7, 2009.

Registration prior to travel is required.

To qualify, members must purchase and fly on published-fare tickets.

Flights operated by our codeshare partners are not eligible for this promotion.

Bonus miles do not count toward elite status qualification.

Triple miles will be calculated at 200 percent of the base miles earned.

The additional 50 percent or 25 percent class of service bonus for travel in First or Business Class is calculated using the base miles earned for the cabin purchased and is not included in the calculation for determining bonus miles earned in conjunction with this promotion.

Fares do not include (a) a federal excise tax of $3.60 per U.S. domestic flight segment, defined as one takeoff and landing, of a passenger’s itinerary; (b) up to $18 per round trip in local airport charges; and (c) September 11th Security Fee of $2.50 per enplanement originating at a U.S. airport.

Tickets must be purchased at least 21 days in advance or within 24 hours of making reservations, whichever comes first, but not later than 11:59 p.m., March 10, 2009 (Central Time).

Fares are valid for travel through May 20, 2009. Travel is not valid March 21, 28 and April 4, 11, 2009. A 30-day maximum stay is allowed.

Advertised fares are valid only on American Airlines, American Eagle, and the AmericanConnection ® airlines and do not apply to other codeshare flights. Seats are limited. Fares may not be available on all flights. Schedules are subject to change without notice.

Fares are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Changes to your ticket may be made if you meet the restrictions of the new fare and pay up to a US$150 fee, plus any fare difference. Changes must be made before your ticketed flight’s scheduled departure time. If you cancel your flight prior to the scheduled departure time, the ticket will be valid for one year from the date of issue for an unused ticket or one year from travel origination for a partially used ticket. If you do not cancel your flight prior to the scheduled departure time, the ticket has no value.
