EB and Fujitsu renew their Patja collaboration

WEBWIRE

Helsinki, Finland — EB, Elektrobit Corporation that specializes in embedded software and hardware solutions for automotive industry and wireless technologies has renewed its IT infrastructure partnership with ICT services provider Fujitsu Services Oy. The agreement signed at the beginning of February marks a continuation to the Patja collaboration that started in 1998.

EB’s Patja service incorporates all in all 1,600 workstations, 86 servers, and mobile devices. The services also cover customer support, Mobile Enterprise services, product services, Exchange email as well as several Microsoft solutions as a service, such as MOSS (Microsoft Office SharePoint Server) and OCS (Office Communications Server).

”Patja has worked well for us for more than a decade, and Fujitsu’s new bid was competitive. In this turbulent economic situation we considered it sensible to stick with Fujitsu,” says Information Management Director Olli Hyyppä of EB.

In the renewed agreement the included ICT services were refined toward greater cost efficiency. Self-service and automation are in a bigger role now, and Fujitsu’s global resources will be exploited more effectively than before.

”With such solid IT skills of our own users, we feel safe to move towards managed self-service,” Olli Hyyppä says.

At this stage, the Patja agreement covers EB’s domestic sites, but it can be expanded abroad, as needed.

EB, Elektrobit Corporation develops advanced technology and transforms it into enriching end user experiences. EB specializes in demanding embedded software and hardware solutions for the automotive industry and wireless technologies. The company’s net sales for the year 2008 totalled EUR 172.3 million. Elektrobit Corporation is listed on NASDAQ OMX Helsinki.
