Transmode and NEC enter global partnership strengthening operator offering

STOCKHOLM, Sweden - Transmode, a leading provider of optical networking solutions, and NEC Corporation, a leading provider of microwave and long haul WDM solutions, today announced that they have signed global a partnership agreement.

Under the terms of the 5-year agreement NEC will resell Transmode’s Metro WDM optical networking equipment globally on a non-exclusive basis, allowing NEC to provide a first class offering to its customers.

“Optical fiber based networking solutions are playing an increasingly important role as network architectures in the access and metro continue to evolve to meet backhaul needs as well as end user requirements. NEC’s market leading Microwave transmission systems along with our switching and aggregation portfolio and the partnership with Transmode allows us to address the needs of both fixed and mobile carriers.” says Mr. Yoichi Watanabe, Associate Senior Vice President and Executive General Manager International Carrier Solutions Operations Unit, NEC Corporation.

The worldwide market for Metro WDM is set to grow from $3.7billon in 2008 to $5.4 billion in 2011 according to a study by independent Infonetics Research Nov 2008.
