The Company Will Also Offer Ringtone Exclusively Through February 2

Lil Wayne is teaming up with AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets to release a new song via social media for the first time. Fans can catch the live world debut performance of his hotly anticipated new single, “Prom Queen,” from his upcoming new album, “Rebirth,” on two AT&T Facebook Pages between 9-10 p.m. PST on Tuesday, Jan. 27 (12-1 a.m. EST on Wednesday, Jan. 28).

In 2008, company customers downloaded more Lil Wayne ringtones than any other artist. Lil Wayne is one of the most popular musical artists with a page on Facebook.

Lil Wayne will perform the single for the first time during a concert in San Diego. The performance will be streamed live to the AT&T FREEdom of Choice page on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/freeforall) and also on the AT&T Mobile Music page on Facebook (www.facebook.com/mobilemusic).

Following the show, a ringtone will be available to AT&T Mobility customers exclusively through Monday, Feb. 2. Fans can buy the ringtone as well as a full track of the song by texting Wayne to 7317. The ringtone will also be available through the AT&T MEdia Mall directly from handsets or online (www.att.com/mediamall).

“I’m honored that AT&T selected me as the first artist to be a part of this historic live event,” says Lil Wayne.

Cash Money/Universal Motown Records recording artist Lil Wayne will go down as perhaps the best rapper of his generation and one of the best artists in the hip-hop period. During his 13-year career, Lil Wayne has sold more than 6 million units, including his magnum opus, multiplatinum “Tha Carter III” (2008).

Born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. and raised in New Orleans’ infamously poor Hollygrove neighborhood, Lil Wayne was discovered by Cash Money CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams when a mutual friend introduced him to the preteen rapper. The Birdman immediately saw a spark in the youngster’s eyes and took him under his wing. In 1999, Lil Wayne released his solo debut “Tha Block Is Hot.” The album yielded a No. 1 single with the title tune and was certified double platinum.

The following year, Wayne released his sophomore LP “Lights Out,” which reached gold status, and in 2002, Lil Wayne dropped his third solo LP, “500 Degrees.” It, too, went gold. Two years later, Wayne released “Tha Carter,” the first album in the trilogy that would elevate Wayne to superstar status. “Tha Carter” (2004) was a commercial success, selling more than 1 million copies and reaching No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts and No. 2 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart. In 2005, Wayne released “Tha Carter II,” which sold more than 1.8 million records. “Like Father, Like Son,” a collaboration between Lil Wayne and Birdman, was released in 2006 and has sold more than 750,000 units.

In 2008, Lil Wayne released the critically acclaimed, fan-favorite and highest-selling album of the year “Tha Carter III.” The start of 2009 has seen the continuation of Wayne’s road to superstardom. He is currently Grammy’s man of the year, drawing a total of eight nominations — more than any other artist — for his blockbuster “Tha Carter III” and for his featured performance on “Swagga Like Us” by T.I., featuring Kanye West, Jay-Z and Lil Wayne.

“The nominations themselves are unbelievable,” says Lil Wayne. “I’m going to continue doing what I’ve been doing, but I’m going to do it better.”

“Tha Carter III” is nominated in the prestigious Album of the Year category as well as for Best Rap Album, and all of its first four smash singles drew individual recognition: “Lollipop,” featuring Static Major, is nominated for Best Rap Song; “Got Money,” featuring T-Pain, for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration; “A Milli” for Best Solo Rap Performance; and “Mr. Carter,” featuring Jay-Z, for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. These are Lil Wayne’s first Grammy nominations for his own album. “Swagga Like Us” is nominated in the Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group and Best Rap Song. The 51st Annual Grammy Awards will be held Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast on CBS.
