Boxing Prediction League Winners Announced

WEBWIRE

SAN FRANCISCO, January 16, 2009 – Prediction Leagues, Inc., the defining provider of web-based sport prediction leagues, has announced the commencement of the inaugural season in 2009 of the Boxing Prediction League (“BPL”), located on the web at www.BoxingPredictionLeague.com. BPL is a new website (launched in mid 2008) that allows boxing fans to compete for valuable prizes against each other in predicting the outcomes of boxing matches. Users square off against each other in seasons that last approximately three months, and at the end of each season a BPL champion is crowned.

The BPL uses a proprietary algorithm based on analytical models employed by sports handicappers to allocate a certain number of points each time a BPL member correctly picks a fight. More than just a prediction league, the BPL site is an integrated research and discussion forum platform, which makes it easy on the league’s users to make picks on and discuss fights. Each time a fight is added to the system, the BPL users receive an email with all of the details about the bout, in addition to research on the fighters that the users will find helpful to make their picks.
In the second BPL season, which ended on December 31, 2008, over two hundred participants competed for the title of BPL Champion. It was a close, competitive season until the last few weeks when BPL member Frankie opened up a significant lead, which he maintained until the end to claim the title. Among the 200+ participants Frankie defeated to win the BPL crown was the reigning champion from the BPL’s inaugural season. For his efforts, Frankie was awarded prizes including a boxing logo T-shirt and a boxing DVD. The first and second runners up – Adrenalkrome and jade – also received prizes.

The BPL’s third season kicks off on Saturday, January 17, 2009, with Andre Berto’s defense of the WBC Welterweight Title against Luis Collazo.
