Palm Vein Authentication Technology Integrates with Single-Sign On Functionality to Cost-Effectively Address Password Security Challenges; Fujitsu to Demonstrate PalmSecure’s Logical and Physical Access Control Capabilities at International CES 2009

Sunnyvale, CA — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a leading supplier of innovative computer products including hard disk drives, peripherals and biometric security solutions, today announced the availability of the PalmSecure LOGONDIRECTOR Enterprise Edition. The fully scalable, centrally administered identity management solution integrates the Fujitsu PalmSecure palm vein authentication technology embedded into a PC mouse with software that seamlessly integrates with industry-leading single sign-on (SSO) solutions. By combining highly accurate, non-intrusive biometric capabilities with SSO connectivity, LOGONDIRECTOR Enterprise Edition provides organizations across all industries with a multi-layered user authentication solution that enhances security and supports compliance with HIPAA, SOX, PCI DSS and other regulations. Fujitsu will demonstrate LOGONDIRECTOR Enterprise Edition as well as PalmSecure’s physical access control capabilities during International CES 2009 (booth: Central 13244), January 8-11, 2009 in Las Vegas.

“Relying on end-users to remember multiple passwords and other login credentials creates added administrative costs and presents significant security challenges, especially for IT managers at large, global organizations,” said Joel Hagberg, vice president, marketing and business development, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. “PalmSecure LOGONDIRECTOR Enterprise Edition addresses these concerns by eliminating the need for users to remember passwords, providing businesses with a superior, more cost-effective form of authentication to support various compliances and government regulations.”

PalmSecure LOGONDIRECTOR Enterprise Edition is centrally administered, allowing IT managers to seamlessly standardize security policies across the entire organization while also reducing implementation and training costs. PalmSecure LOGONDIRECTOR Enterprise Edition integrates with Active Directory and to be released databases, enabling cost-effective scalability and allowing users’ palm vein templates to be stored on existing servers. In large enterprise environment settings, this single repository is especially beneficial because users can log into the network from any laptop or PC without bringing their passwords with them, reducing the threat of lost laptops and other security concerns associated with employee travel.

“The Fujitsu PalmSecure LOGONDIRECTOR Enterprise Edition is a strong authentication technology that integrates seamlessly with the Password Manager feature of Citrix XenApp, providing large, global organizations with an easy-to-use, cost-effective solution that bolsters security and compliance efforts,” said John Bryan, director, business development, Citrix Systems, Inc. “LOGONDIRECTOR Enterprise Edition enhances XenApp, and by verifying it as Citrix Ready, we are providing our customers with a complete identity and access management solution to help them meet their IT security and compliance needs.”

Fujitsu PalmSecure LOGONDIRECTOR Enterprise Edition—recently verified as Citrix Ready™ and compatible with Citrix® XenApp™—addresses both the security and cost challenges associated with the wide-spread use of passwords within global organizations. By integrating advanced, vascular pattern recognition technology with any SSO solution to grant entry into password-protected applications, PalmSecure LOGONDIRECTOR Enterprise Edition eliminates the need for users to remember passwords, saving the IT helpdesk a substantial amount of time and money. This is equally beneficial when deprovisioning accounts. When an employee leaves a company, the IT department has just one credential to delete, reducing deprovisioning costs and preventing the exiting employee from using these accounts for malicious activity, something that is especially concerning in a down economy.
International CES 2009

Fujitsu will demonstrate PalmSecure LOGONDIRECTOR Enterprise Edition—as well as PalmSecure’s physical access control capabilities—in booth Central 13244 during International CES 2009, January 8-11, 2009 in Las Vegas. PalmSecure currently has a wide variety of use-case scenarios including:

* Healthcare — HT Systems’ PatientSecure solution integrates PalmSecure to provide healthcare facilities with a highly accurate, non-intrusive process for verifying patient identification. Hospitals across the U.S.— including ValleyCare Health System in Pleasanton, Calif. and BayCare Health System in Tampa, Fla. and Carolinas HealthCare System in Charlotte, NC —rely on PalmSecure to protect patient privacy, safeguard electronic medical records and prevent medical identify theft. PalmSecure also ensures that patients receive proper care in a timely fashion, something that is especially beneficial in an emergency room “John or Jane Doe” situation in which a patient is in some way incapacitated and cannot be identified using conventional methods.
* Standardized Testing — PalmSecure will be used by Pearson VUE, the company that administers the Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®), to verify the identities of test takers in order to combat “proxy” cheating, maintain the integrity of the exams and ensure the reliability of test results. When fully deployed, PalmSecure will be implemented at more than 400 facilities in 162 countries worldwide and will service all of Pearson VUE’s professional testing clients. In total, more than one million test takers will be identified with PalmSecure and enrolled in Pearson VUE’s candidate database to help avert cheating.

In addition to these industries, future generations of the PalmSecure physical access control solution will be used on campuses, casinos, airport terminals and other locations where accurate identification is necessary to avoid security issues.
