Carroll Education to implement IBS Publishing ERP software

IBS has announced that Carroll Education, one of Ireland’s leading publishers and distributors of primary school educational materials, has agreed to implement IBS Publishing ERP software, IBS Bookmaster. Carroll Education was looking for a complete and integrated ERP software system for all aspects of its publishing and distribution business and selected IBS Bookmaster as the best ERP software solution.


Carroll Education, based in Dublin, is a publisher and distributor of literacy and numeracy resources for primary schools throughout the Republic of Ireland. The company was formed in 1981 and has developed its business to include a full distribution service as well as publishing. Around 2000, Carroll implemented a bespoke software system for its business, but recently found that this was no longer capable of meeting the company’s business requirements.

“Our previous ERP system lacked some of the key requirements demanded in the modern publishing and book distribution industry. It couldn’t offer any remote access to the core system, there was no integrated customer relationship management system and no integrated eCommerce capability. It also couldn’t offer some of the specific functionality we required to meet the changing demands of our business, such as editorial and book production and royalties management.” explains Jonathan Saint, Managing Director of Carroll Education,

He continues,

“We developed an extensive wish list of all the requirements we needed to increase the efficiency, productivity and profitability of our business. After an extensive search of the market, we selected IBS Bookmaster because it ticked all these boxes, was independently recommended by several parties and was very professionally presented.”

IBS Bookmaster is the most widely used publishing system in the world, with customers in 21 countries on five major continents. The software caters for the specific requirements of academic, trade, specialized, niche and subscriptions based publishers and distributors. It incorporates a variety of industry-specific modules and features required by many publishers, such as Royalties, Returns Management, Subscriptions, Editorial & Book Production, Direct Mail, Academic Sales, Title Management, Title Restrictions, dealing with buying groups and much more.

Carroll Education is implementing IBS Publishing ERP software as a complete hosted solution.
