RangeBooster N® DIR-625 Lets Users Share USB Printers, Multi-Function Printers and Storage Devices While Offering Superior Wi-Fi Coverage
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. — D-Link, the end-to-end computer network solutions provider for consumers and businesses, today announced its powerful yet economical RangeBooster N® Router (DIR-625) can now be upgraded with SharePort™ technology. Users now can share a wide range of USB devices such as printers, multi-function printers (MFP) and storage drives easily with other computers on the network - in either a wired or Wi-Fi environment.

As a free upgrade available now, D-Link® SharePort technology turns the local USB port located on the back of the DIR-625 router into a fast and responsive virtual network port so users can access a range of USB devices regardless of their location in the home or office.

The DIR-625 is ideal for creating a secure wireless network to share photos, files, music, printers and more from greater distances throughout the entire home or office. It features D-Link’s award-winning quality of service (QoS) engine that prioritizes time-sensitive online traffic, enabling smooth Internet phone calls (VoIP) and responsive online gaming.

“By equipping our economical RangeBooster N router with SharePort technology we are further meeting the consumer’s need for expanded Wi-Fi network functionality and reliability for powering their digital home at prices they can afford,” said Daniel Kelley, senior director of marketing, D-Link Systems, Inc.

Users also can upgrade their DIR-625 with an optional subscription to SECURESPOT 2.0™, a professional-strength security and parental control service, to proactively protect all devices on the network. It safeguards PCs like traditional Internet security suites, and also protects Macs and browser-enabled devices such as game consoles. In addition to powerful parental controls, other features include safe surfing/searching, remote management, anti-virus/anti-spyware protection with McAfee® technology, Internet usage time scheduling and activity reporting, Web-managed firewall, access control for Internet usage, Spam control and identity protection.

The RangeBooster N Router supports the latest wireless security features to help prevent unauthorized access, either from a wireless network or from the Internet. It offers support for WPA™ and WPA2™ standards to ensure the best possible encryption, and utilizes dual active firewalls (SPI and NAT) to help prevent potential attacks from across the Internet.

The DIR-625 also features Wi-Fi scheduling that allows users to easily program when the Wi-Fi radio signals are turned on and off to save energy consumption.
