Print Art, Inc. Responds to Urgent Call for Food With Holiday Donation

Egg Harbor Twp., N.J. December 5, 2008 - In response to the urgent call for food from area food banks, Print Art, Inc. and its employees will contribute turkeys with all the trimmings to feed 20 needy South Jersey families this holiday season.

“This kind of response from the community, whether it be businesses or civic groups or religious groups, really helps us get through these difficult times,” said Evelyn Benton, Branch Director, The Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Southern Branch. “In the counties we serve-Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland-we’ve seen a 35% increase in families coming in to food pantries since 2006. And just in the last two months, there’s been an explosion of need with the huge drop in the economy. It’s been overwhelming and we’ve had a difficult time keeping up.”

New Jersey may be one of the richest states in the country but one in 11 residents go to bed hungry, according to a November 2008 report by the Food Research and Action Center in Washington, DC. Nationwide, the number of Americans without enough food has risen to 36.2 million.

“We had to step in,” said Carl Blase, CEO. “When the low-income working poor, the elderly and disabled, and those living paycheck to paycheck, can’t stretch their incomes to cover food, everyone needs to pitch in and help.”

Print Art, Inc. will donate the turkeys while the employees have volunteered to bring in canned goods and side dishes. The delivery is scheduled at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Southern Branch, for Friday, December 19, 2008 at 2 p.m.
