Alcatel-Lucent fiber access solutions win two major awards in Asia

Paris — Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that it has been honored with two additional awards - “FTTx Vendor of the Year” as part of the Telecom Asia Reader’s Choice Awards and a “Jury Recommended Solution” Award from the People’s P&T Publishing Company in China.

The “FTTx Vendor of the Year 2008” award was publicly handed over to Alcatel-Lucent on December 8, 2008 in Hong Kong. The election was organized by Telecom Asia, a leading trade media in Asia Pacific, and aims at recognizing technology innovations, accomplishments and contributions to the telecoms industry in Asia Pacific. Alcatel-Lucent and other category winners were selected out of almost 1,000 candidates submitted by 78 industry analysts, consultants and high-level telecommunications company executives.

During the same period, at the occasion of the PT ExPoComm event which took place in China between October 21st and 25th, People’s P&T Publishing Company rallied chief engineers from China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom and other Chinese operators to select their “2008 Jury Recommended Solutions” – one of which has been awarded to Alcatel-Lucent’s 7342 Intelligent Services Access Manager Fiber-to-the-User (ISAM FTTU) gigabit passive optical networking (GPON) product.
