Free in-store parties to include a select reading from the book, trivia and drawing activities

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Harry Potter fans rejoice! With just 48 hours to go until J.K. Rowling’s hotly anticipated “The Tales of Beedle the Bard” officially goes on sale, nearly all Borders and Waldenbooks stores are busy preparing to make this book release special for Harry Potter fans by hosting free in-store parties nationwide Thursday, Dec. 4 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parties will provide fans eager to add this title to their Harry Potter collection the opportunity to revisit their excitement for the amazing boy wizard and his incredible adventures. Capturing all the magic of the Harry Potter books, “The Tales of Beedle the Bard” includes five engrossing fairy tales—accompanied by pen-and- ink illustrations by Rowling and extensive commentary by Albus Dumbledore himself. Each tale reveals valuable life lessons that underscore love, trust, friendship and goodness. Muggle and wizard readers alike won’t want to pass up this opportunity to celebrate this release with their friends and other fans and purchase their copy of the book to garner keen insight into the world of Harry Potter.

The parties will kick off with a reading and discussion of “The Tales of Three Brothers,” an absorbing fable from the book that was first introduced to fans in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” After reading and discussing the fable, kids will have their knowledge of the characters, animals, spells and magical objects in each of the Harry Potter books tested during the exciting “Harry Potter Challenge” trivia activity. Then, the creative juices will flow when fans put crayons to paper and draw scenes from “The Tales of Three Brothers.” For those who cannot wait to buy the book, select Borders stores will stay open later than normal Dec. 3 to accommodate customers who want to buy the book immediately when it officially goes on sale just after midnight. To find a store with extended hours, visit the store locator tab on Borders.com.

“We could not be more excited to celebrate the release of ‘The Tales of Beedle the Bard’ with in-store parties,” said Diane Mangan, director of the Children’s category for Borders Group. “Our customers have been awaiting the release of this book for months and Borders and Waldenbooks are the perfect place for Harry Potter fans to revisit their passion for the stories that gave them so much enjoyment—and pick up this great book of fairy tales.”

At less than 9 inches by 6 inches, the book makes a perfect stocking stuffer. If families can’t make it out for the parties, it’s a cinch to pick up this title at any Borders and Waldenbooks store—and online at Borders.com—and present it to the Harry Potter fan on Christmas.
