DENVER—Dec. 2, 2008—Sorrento Networks, a global provider of metro optical access solutions, is equipping its customers with even more advanced WDM management capabilities with the version 1.5 release of its GigaMux 6400 Management System. The 1.5 release enables customers to better monitor and manipulate their networks by adding nodes and wavelengths.

The newly released software, which is used to manage Sorrento’s GigaMux 6400 WDM transport system, includes sophisticated features that allow operators to remotely and securely access nodes for network management and monitoring. The addition of new modules to the system further extends the GigaMux 6400 platform’s capabilities for both new and existing customers. Other updates include software support for ROADM, as well as support for the Sorrento management system, which enables more efficient interface capabilities to Oracle-based systems.

“The GigaMux 6400 platform is solving a wide range of carrier application needs around the globe, so it’s imperative to us that our management system fulfills their present and future requirements,” said Jim Nevelle, CEO of Sorrento Networks. “With this new system, we’re continuing the legacy of innovation that has been established with the GigaMux line and staying a step ahead of our customers’ ever-changing needs.”

New key features of Sorrento’s GigaMux Management System 1.5 include:

- Enhanced Secure Access and New Module Support: New secure access capabilities allow the operator to access nodes and manage and monitor the network from remote locations. New system modules broaden the platform’s capabilities.

- ZMS Management System Support: Support for the ZMS system includes full FCAPS implementation (Fault, Configuration, Administration, Performance and Security), enabling quick turn-up of devices, advanced tools for increased productivity, real-time traffic and service monitoring and historical data collection for trending and analysis.

- Software Support for ROADM: Built-in support for ROADM enables the operator to remotely configure all aspects of the network, including software-controlled add and drop for wavelengths. Automatic optical power-balancing is also newly incorporated.

About the GigaMux 6400 Optical Platform
With support for up to 80 wavelengths with DWDM, the GigaMux 6400 allows carriers to deploy custom network architectures with the right platform for the job. The GigaMux 6400 features a modular, open slot chassis plus a unique, parallel filter architecture for uniform loss across all channels. A full range of rugged, passive, low-loss filter modules provide genuine “plug-and-play” functionality for single and group add/drop and bypass for 2.5G and 10G networks. Integrated channel balancing in the filters supports foreign wavelength transport, easily allowing users to be added without disrupting existing services and expand the network as customer requirements dictate.

Sorrento’s new management system, which comes bundled with the GigaMux 6400 platform, is now available worldwide. For more information, call +1-303-803-9400 or visit www.sorrentonet.com.
