New Partnership Provides best-in-Class Windows and Linux
Enterprise Platform Solutions to Sysix Enterprise Customers
Santa Clara, Calif. — NEC Corporation of America, a premier provider of IT, network and identity management solutions, today announced a partnership with Sysix Technologies, LLC, a leading provider of mission-critical business technology solutions, to resell NEC’s enterprise-class servers-ideally suited for Windows®, Linux®, and virtualization application environments. The agreement reaffirms NEC’s commitment to expanding the delivery of dynamic IT infrastructure solutions in North America through partners that demonstrate the ability to sell and support enterprise class products. The partnership allows Sysix to leverage NEC’s portfolio of Intel® processor-based enterprise servers, recognized internationally for quality, to meet the wide variety of enterprise customers needs.

“This relationship is significant to Sysix because it allows our customers access to NEC’s dynamic, scalable, and highly reliable enterprise servers that are built on top of a strong foundation of mainstream technology and are well positioned to meet the challenges of today’s computing environments,” said Bill Laflamme, VP of Technology Solutions for Sysix. “Through this agreement, we strengthen our portfolio of dynamic IT infrastructure solutions from NEC. Combined with services from Sysix, NEC and Sysix together can improve virtualization performance, as well as application availability and performance in order to meet increasing IT workload demands.”

“Our partnership with Sysix brings NEC’s dynamic data center solutions to a wider audience and is further proof of our commitment to grow through the channel,” said Dave Davenport, senior vice president, IT Platform and Solutions, NEC Corporation of America. “Sysix is an ideal partner for NEC because of their strong reputation for providing technology solutions to mid-market and Fortune 1000 organizations in a variety of vertical markets such as financial services, manufacturing, education, health care, and retail.”

The strategic solution provider agreement between the two companies will leverage NEC’s existing Intel Itanium® and Xeon® processor-based server platforms, including NEC’s comprehensive family of highly scalable and reliable Express5800/1000 servers. Leveraging NEC’s world-class supercomputer and mainframe heritage, NEC Express5800/1000 servers represent the third-generation in NEC’s family of highly expandable mid-range and enterprise-class server platforms. The availability of these products through Sysix’s distribution portfolio represents a significant expansion of NEC’s channel and extended reach in the North American market.

These systems draw on NEC’s solid track record of leading TPC performance results and dynamic hardware partitioning innovations to offer a wide breadth of options for enterprises, including:
NEC Express5800/A1160 – the industry’s first enterprise server tuned specifically to take advantage of the performance and functionality of expandable Intel® Xeon® 7400 Series processors. The NEC Express5800/A1160 provides consolidation and reliability and is ideally suited for business-critical, virtual server applications; Microsoft® SQL Server® consolidation; and database transactions. The NEC Express5800/A1160 also sports reliability, availability and serviceability features designed to meet increasing demands of business-critical applications running on Windows and Linux operating systems.
NEC Express5800/1320Xf – the industry’s first enterprise-class server to provide dynamic hardware partitioning for Microsoft Windows Server® 2008 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008. This functionality was the first to deliver “on demand” performance for Windows Server 2008 by supporting “hot add” of physical processing resources without the loss of operating system or application state. Through the “hot replace” of processing and I/O subsystems, without loss of operating system or application state, dynamic partitioning allows IT managers running Windows Server 2008 to eliminate planned downtime for hardware maintenance.
NEC Express5800/1080Rf – a highly expandable mid-range platform for consolidation, database, and line-of-business applications. The NEC Express5800/1080Rf is scalable from 2 to 16 processor cores and provides an ideal option for database and very broad application deployments.
