Hong Kong – Over a thousand of Citi Hong Kong employee volunteers, including many senior executives, as well as families, friends and corporate clients, will get involved in 21 different community activities for the company’s third annual Global Community Day on November 8.

In partnership with ten Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), the Citi volunteers will contribute to a wide range of causes such as environmental conservation, financial education, caring for the disabled, elderly, underprivileged children and others in the community.

Shengman Zhang, Citi Country Officer for Hong Kong, said, “Global Community Day is very meaningful for Citi and has been well supported by our employees around the world since it started in 2006. In Hong Kong alone, the number of volunteer activities and NGO partners has increased each year, and more than 3,000 people have joined in the past two years. It is a great way to remind ourselves, our colleagues and their families about the importance of giving back to the community, especially during these difficult times.”

Alvin Mak, Head of Markets & Banking for Hong Kong, Citi Hong Kong, said, “Employee volunteerism has long been embedded in Citi’s culture. Global Community Day can encourage more employees’ active participation in community services, allowing them to experience the joy of helping others.”

Global Community Day is an annual initiative for Citi employees, along with their families, friends, and clients to come together as a global team on a single day to make a difference in their local communities.

The NGO partners for this year’s Global Community Day in Hong Kong will include Caritas, Fu Hong Society, Hong Kong Alzheimer’s Disease Association, Hope Worldwide, Royal British Legion (Hong Kong & China branch), Salvation Army, Industrial Evangelistic Fellowship, Parents Association of Pre-school Handicapped Children, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, and WWF Hong Kong.
