Quantum Data 882E, Supported by Agilent HDMI Test Software, Now Approved by DCP LLC, Closing Gap in Test Coverage

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that its HDMI test automation software platform now offers added value as a result of Digital Content Protection LLC’s (DCP) approval of the Quantum Data 882 for HDCP compliance tests. With the approval of Quantum Data’s HDCP test tool, Agilent’s platform now supports all HDMI tests covered with approved instruments, increasing the overall HDMI compliance test coverage. The DCP-approved version of the Quantum Data 882 HDCP test application is the only commercial Authorized Test Tool available for purchase.

The Agilent HDMI automation solution addresses the need for efficient and consistent certification processes in compliance test labs such as the Authorized Test Centers. This complete solution also facilitates rapid design and margin analysis where repetitive measurements are required for temperature and design variability. With the HDCP approval of the Quantum Data 882E, the overall solution offered by Agilent and Quantum Data provides additional value to adopters. Specifically, test results obtained in the development lab will match the results at the HDMI Authorized Test Centers.

“Now with a commercially available tool for HDCP compliance testing, adopters can feel confident that their products meet HDCP test requirements,” said Kurt Hellinga, HDMI program manager of Agilent’s Digital Test Division. “This will reduce costs and time to market for adopters. We are excited about the extra value the HDCP approval offers our customers and the HDMI industry.”

The Quantum Data 882 complements the tests covered by the Agilent E4887A TMDS signal generator and the N5998A protocol analyzer and generator. The Quantum Data 882 HDCP tests, along with the EDID, CEC and video tests, are fully integrated into the Agilent test automation software. The Quantum Data 882E becomes fully transparent and accessible through the Agilent N5990A test automation software platform when equipped with option 350. The N5990A is licensed from Agilent’s partner company BitifEye Digital Test Solutions. Upon completion of a test series, all results, including the important HDCP test data, are combined in a single comprehensive report.

“HDCP adopters can now purchase a DCP Authorized Test Tool for use in their product development and production,” said Chuck Evans general sales manager of Quantum Data. “By collaborating, Agilent, BitifEye and Quantum Data offer HDMI customers a unique level of system integration and automated test coverage under the control of a PC.”

Agilent provides the broadest range of standalone instruments for HDMI compliance tests and characterization with superior performance. Agilent’s test automation software controls multiple of these instruments with a common user interface and now also supports third-party products.
