Philips unveils new concepts and solutions for Health and Well-being at the 2008 Philips Simplicity Event at Moscow’s Red Square


Moscow, Russia - Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE:PHG, AEX:PHI) will unveil a range of innovative and original concepts for Health and Well-being at the 2008 Philips Simplicity Event, which started today on the Red Square in Moscow, Russia. The Event highlights areas identified by Philips in which the company has the ability to innovate and make a difference to both people and the environment.

This year’s Event features a broad array of recently launched and upcoming products from Philips’ Healthcare, Consumer Lifestyle and Lighting sectors enabling people to live a healthy life while maintaining a sustainable environment. In line with the theme of this year’s event, ‘Healthy People, Healthy Living, Healthy Planet’, the concepts presented at the 2008 Simplicity Event particularly focus on the responsible domestic use of resources, harnessing renewable energy and the responsible consumption of goods.

The Light Blossom outdoor lighting concept is a light pole that transforms its appearance throughout the day to collect energy from both sun and wind, not only providing truly green lighting, but actually supplying power back to the grid. The Circle of Life concept is a shopping experience for the responsible consumption of goods, inviting people to co-create and make choices based on the entire chain of the product’s life, including the phases ‘before purchase’ and ‘after disposal’.

In terms of solutions for the home, visitors to the Event will experience Philips’ newly-designed Wake-Up Light, an innovative dawn simulator that allows a gentle wake-up of the body, creating a sense of relaxation and well-being. Guests will also be introduced to Flavors - an original new home entertainment concept that recognizes consumers’ growing desire to personalize their products and allows them to match their home entertainment systems with their personal style and interiors. The Green Cuisine kitchen concept illustrates a responsible use of resources, helping people become more conscious – in an educational yet attractive way – of their domestic consumption of water, electricity, gas, and even food.
