Camping Gear Store provides income stability
When the economy took a down-turn in 2007, Joel Moore or Moore Studios had some tough decisions to make. As a professional photographer and owner of a portrait studio, Moore was watcing his fellow photographers go out of business all over the US. The combination of a slowing economy, increased competition from part time photographers, and the growing popularity of digital cameras was combining to make the photography business very difficult to make a living in.
While other businesses were looking for ways to increase revenue, Moore decided that the best course of action was to diversify.
So far, Moore has opened 2 new businesses to supliment the revenue from his photography studio. The first business was to offer yearbook publishing for homeschool groups at http://www.homeschool-yearbooks.com “This is a largely untapped market and the need is great.” said Moore.
The second business is an on-line caping gear store. Moore, who has been involved in Boy Scouts his whole life, has a vast knowledge of camping and camping gear. His store, http://www.outdoor-gear-online.com has a wide range of camping gear.
“I am particularly excited about on of our products. The Spot Satellite Messenger available at http://www.outdoor-gear-online.com/spot? is a satellite based tracking system. It provides a level of security that was never available when I was a kid.” said Moore.
Moore plans to add an additional business or 2 over the next few years. By diversifying where is business’s income comes from, he is more able to handle this changing economy.
