Geneva, Switzerland and Amsterdam, The Netherlands: Advanced Digital Broadcast, a leading supplier of digital TV systems and software solutions for interactive television, announced today that its ADB-5810TWX high definition (HD), hybrid, IPTV digital video recorder (DVR) won “Best Customer Premises Technology” Product of the Year award from Cable & Satellite International. The ADB-5810TWX is the high-end, DVR product range complement of the ADB-3800/10TW which won this same award in 2006. The awards were presented last night at the International Broadcast Conference held at the RAI Conference Centre in Amsterdam.

This is the second award that the ADB-5810TWX has collected this year. In March, ADB received the ‘Best IPTV Customer Premise Technology’ at the ‘IPTV World Series Awards’ held at the IPTV World Forum.

ADB is a leading supplier of state-of-the-art technology to the IPTV, terrestrial, satellite and cable industries, delivering custom and off-the-shelf technology solutions to operators throughout the world, supporting their visions of growing revenue streams through a migration to interactive and video services.

“We are pleased to receive this acknowledgement from the industry. Once again, this demonstrates our leadership position in bringing innovation to the market”, commented François Pogodalla, CEO at ADB. "We are committed to making advanced technology compatible with the requirements of large scale operations. The ADB-5000 series of products are already proving to be a winner in the field with deployments in Europe and North America.

The ADB-5810TWX is one of the first hybrids, HD/AVC, DVRs to be launched in the IPTV market. This multi-room DVR solution is also one of the first of it’s kind to receive v1.5 certification from DLNA® and UPNPTM ensuring it’s compatibility with standards-based home networking. Additionally the product supports new and engaging 3D applications which have created a lot of excitement throughout the industry.

The product allows existing IPTV operators to enhance their service strategy to include DVR, home networking, Video-on-Demand and web/IP delivered services. New service providers are able to offer pure IP delivery and traditional DVB and IP to a single CPE platform which has the additional benefit of HD/SD digital video recording in MPEG-2 and H.264/MPEG-4 Advanced Video Coding (AVC). Windows Media VC-1, Flash Video and DivX are also supported by the platform.

Like all ADB’s IPTV products, the ADB-5810TWX is supported by ADB’s Software Development Kit, a complete set of tools allowing operators and other third parties to seamlessly develop customised applications on ADB’s products.

“Our IPTV product range is one of the most innovative and complete” added François Pogodalla. “Any IPTV operator, at any volume, in any location with any complexity of their business, can be certain to find that our solutions match their requirements perfectly. We are at the forefront of this fast-growing industry.”
